I am going back to the 243 only because I have enough to load around 3000 rounds, don't want to see it go to waste. I will get the 7mm-08 next year.

my grandmother seen deer every time she went in the woods, she would hunt one or two days a year and always a monster buck, she passed away last year, just before she passed she gave us her secret. (I wear my faviorate perfume) she said. I just had to try it, of course. the perfume turned out to be sweet pea body spray. I tried it, after being in the woods for three hours I had deer everywhere, I took my biggest buck ever. I have the body spray ready for this year.

all are corect, I believe the end times are near, but if they want my guns they will have to pry them from my dead hands, I am not going to hand them over to any dictator. I also believe (just my opinion) a lot of people are seeing the presidents failed policies { which is all of them) and even his bigest supporters are casting him off, so there might be a light at the end of the tunnel, even if it is dim.If we all were to pray as one, and act upon that prayer with our voices, we could move mountians, not just mole hills.

I have owned several differnt calibers, I mainly hunted with the 30-06, but due to recoil I can no longer shoot it. I used a custom built 6mm284 and a custom 22-250 for target shooting. a 17remington and 22 hornet for varmint, and a 300 win. mag for moose, elk and bear. I hand loaded for each and I know there are a lot of 6mm bullets, and that is the smallest caliber you can use here in va. regretably in my 2.5 long years of fighting for my disability I sold all my guns but my 22 hornet. I am going back to the 243 (6mm) because I know it so well. I reloaded 243 for several of my friends target rifles, I am also well aware of it's capabilities. I have a friend that deer, bear, elk, and moose hunts with his, and has for years, and still does. I am now also seeing the 7mm-08, and have come to realize that it is a very efective round also, I just decided to stick with what I know.

on friday of next week (payday) I am going to get one of the cva hunter rifle deals at dicks sporting goods. it is a 243 with a 3-9x40 kronus scope for $269. I shot one at the shooting range yesterday a man had just bought for his son. nice little rifle, and with a .5" group at 100 yds with factory ammo. as soon as I get it and do a little shooting with it, I will give you an update.

the 7mm is a 28 cal. I think the two most popular bullets out there are the 24 cal, and the 30 cal. I used to reload for several people, and shot competition, that was years ago though, things may have changed by now, but those used to be the most popular.
-
thanks, I think I will try it, can always put a better scope on later, and money being tight these days, I think it will do what I want.
-
I would also like to know if anyone has any knowladge of the cva centerfire rifles. dicks sporting goods has a cva hunter rifle in 243 or 7mm-08 scoped with a 3-9x32 for $269.
-
I am not asking which one is better, I know they are both great calibers. I would like to ask, when I start to reload, which caliber is going to be easier to find bullets for deer. I want to do sme varmint hunting too, but I want the rifle to be able to take deer, I just can't afford two guns at the moment.

well i am trading the 30-06 for a 243, even with the shoulder pad it is too much, pulled my shoulder out today after the third shot. going to get a cva hunter rifle in 243 or 7mm-08. I will hunt this year even if all I can shoot is a camera.thanks for all your support.
-
going to take my rifle and my camera, don't know which one i will shoot more.got a winchester model 70 dark shaddow 30-06 with bushenell 3-9x32 scope for $250.now i got to buy some new cloths. i feel like a teenager again.

thanks to all of you. I am going to reload, I have everything I nee except a manual. been looking at the new hornady manual. what would you guys suggest? man!!!!! I get to shoot me a deer this year, my legs are shakeing already, and i got a couple of weeks to go.
-
I think this falls under personal belief, I can tell you what I would do, but that may not be right for you. if you feel comfortable taking the shot, go ahead, if not don't. we all have our own set of ethics, don't chance yours for what I would do. just hunt hard and have fun.

I am happy for you, glad they are healthy.

a few years ago i had a bad accident and suffered a bad shoulder injury. it left me unable to shoot anymore. well i came up to pa to help my wifes family as her mother has cancer. my brotherinlaw whom i only known for three months came over today with a shoulder brace and pad for shootin large calibers. we went straight to the gun shop and i bought a winchester 670 30-06, it shoots great and with the pad i barely even feel it. first time hunting in seven years, am so excited. thanks a lot bro.

thus is so cool, my brotherinlaw knew i was having problems shooting with my shoulder, he came over today with a big shoulder support and pad for shooting large calibers. i went to the gun store with him and just got a winchester 670 30-06 for $200. it shoots great and with the pad i barley feel it. thanks a lot bro.

I am new here, just want you to know, I am 36 and have the same problem. it is not of a stroke. I fell 36 feet off a bridge and broke my back in 4 places and my neck twice. the reason he does these things as I is, nerve damage in the neck. the swelling over the years and from the injury slows the reaction time, and makes even the simplest of thought train difficult because your body even speech can't keep up with your mind. it is difficult to go through. I would recomend simple exercise, sounds crazy, but it does help get the mind and body back to the same place. he will never totaly get over it, but with a little help will get better.i

I think I am going to go with the cva, price is a part of my decision, but out of all the reviwes I read threr was only one bad one, and it was trivial. so if anyone else here knows anything good or bad let me know, please.
-
well, I can and can't believe this. I know they want to take our guns, but to stoop low enough to take a tragedy and use that for political gain, that is just wrong. there are far more kids dying of hunger in the us, and from abuse, what are we doing about that. NOTHING!!! no political gain. besides that the criminals already have their guns, they can't seem to enforce that law, so make a new one that criples the good citizens. yea that makes perfect sense. NOT!!n

I usualy only hunt one deer a year as I am the only one who likes it, I like my deer hunting, but the last three years I have been hunting cyote, it has become a passion. I like the 50 dollar bounty per animal also. in the past three years I have traped and shot 63 of the varmints, they are one smaet animal. thought the 243 wold get me out there farther than the 22lr.thanks to all for makeing me feel welcome here.
-
yes i have resaerched the 243 and is an all around good caiber, and the smalest caliber we can use here in va. just wanted to know if anyone knew anything about the new cva hunter rifle or not. I looked at one a few days ago, it seemed to be nice, much better construction than the rossi. then again the h&r looks and feels nice too. torn between the two i guess.
-
it is ok to like our toys. I had to sell most of mine through my fight for disability. I think I will go with the cva, the rifle scoped with 3w-9x32 simons scope, all new for $269. dont think i can beat it, at dicks sporting goods.I thank you for the information.
-
thanks, i loved bow hunting, and miss it terribly i just can't pull one back anymore. I wish you lots of fun and luck with yours.

I am looking at the cva hunter the h&r and the rossi in 243. I cant shoot the long action due to a shoulder injury. I hunt in the back woods of southwest virgina so 200 yds is the max. I am disabled and on limited income, so price is important. I appreciate all input. am new here so a big howdy to ya'll
