    My Saturday

Congrats! Great pics, maybe I should take up rowing
  2. I forgot who posted about missing some hunting time to watch his daughter compete in a competition - I think it was Tominator. Well I had to miss the end of black powder and the opener of gun which is tomorrow. I have to brag a little now. I am down in SC now because my oldest boy graduated from his first naval school. He is trying to become a nuclear reactor operator - a Nuke Electronics Technician. So far so good. He graduated first in his class, with honors. If you ask me, nothing would keep me from seeing him for the last couple of days. Happy Daddy here boys!
  3. I was pretty much feeling what you all replies with. I just wanted to know if I was being too courtesy. I ended up finding another spot that has a lot of intesecting trails in the same area and going to check another spot. Just this one area is about 800 acres so I am sure there are other spots
  4. Just wondering if anybody has used this and what the results were. Wonder if I should give 'er a try this evening. It's in the prerut now and according to what I have read, the rut is to be in full swing next week.
  5. I am hunting a military base. They have about 50,000 acres that are divided into hunting areas and you just park on the shoulder of the road to the area you are going to hunt after you reserve your spot. I hunted an area today that had a lot of sign and I saw a few doe. Leaving at sunset I notice someone had the little reflective path markers running down through the woods. They start about 75 yards into the woods and I don't know where they lead. My question is, if I am hunting that area again, is it bad sportsmanship to follow the markers and possible hunt someone's potential honey hole? What would you do?
  6. I don't know where it's at. Today it was 70 and it is still in the 60's and it's 7:30PM. It made for a rough hunt today. I saw one doe at 2:30 and then 2 more right as legal shooting time expired. Where I am hunting there was only one either sex day during black powder. We are suppose to get cooler weather (VA) starting Thursday.
  7. It did the job for me. Funny how that works
  8. I had a day out hunting that was awful. I was so unorganized, windy outside, phone not charged, and the list goes on. Just about ready to leave the woods, not in the best of moods and 2 yearlings and a doe come out of the thicket. Decided on the doe - DEER DOWN!

  10. Ouch! You could always wear some flip flops . I hope you have a speedy recovery.
  11. I feel ya brother. I missed a couple of years with my youngest playing travel football and we made it to Orlando to play for a national championship. This year I am going to see my oldest graduate from his first naval school. So proud of both my boys and wouldn't trade one minute being with them for being in the woods. Be proud and enjoy yourself. Good luck to the entire team and safe travels!
