DRTSWIFT Posted March 22, 2011 Report Share Posted March 22, 2011 Been following this post closely....have always said for myself..to match bullet weight, with body weight...we dont have the luxury of big bodied deer in Texas...the 22 to 25 calibers are great here...I hunt exclusively with my swift..never had a critter take a step..period..with that being said...we are shooting a lot smaller animals than most of you are....we have guys down here shooting 300 ultras....at 120 lb whitetails..the bullet is zipping them..not opening up..and they are running..haha...I just cannot explain it to them...not enough body weight to make the bullet perform properly...I am jealous of you fellas trying to decide on a big caliber..ha...but you also have big game...and my .02 worth..that old 300 Weatherby is still a bad cat...but none of us has ever killed a deer..that was carrying a ballistic chart with him..good luck on your choice Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
