m gardner
I was at the range today playing with my rifles and handguns and a family was at the next bench. The dad was showing his son how to shoot. I got talking with him and the boy asked if he could try my 45 ACP. His dad said it was okay so he did. Then later he said he was hoping to shoot a high power rifle someday so I asked his dad if he could shoot my 270 win.. It is loaded with 110 grain Barnes Tripleshocks at about 3500fps. The first shot after a bit of dry firing was on at 100 yards. Then he shot at the 200 meter 8 inch gong. I watched the vapor trail from the bullet hit the gong and his dad jumped up and down and pumped his arm. Not bad for a skinny 12 year old. I gave him the cases and he was wearing a grin you'll never get off his face. That's more fun than I've had in a long time. Nice family and polite too. dbHunterNY
For his 16th birthday present he'll probably be asking his dad for a magnum rifle at that rate. Sounds like you did good and they also had a great time.

Shaun_300
Man that is too cool Mark. Not everyday someone will do something like you did there at the range. Sounds like the young lad has a good shot too!
m gardner
This young man has real potential to become a great shot, if his parents can afford it. He's just got a great attitude and personality too. His parents should be proud of the job they are doing raising him for sure.
