Guest bow_hunter8
I was wondering if anybody else has had a problem with them not being siff enough spine?(55/75's and the 75/95's) I have a martin fury, a high country 4-runner both at 74 lbs shooting around 305fps, the martin just a little faster and a switchback at 71 lbs shooting 291fps, and they will not shoot in any of them over 60 lbs. the only arrows i have found that will shoot in the first 2 in acc 71's and carbon express 400's. What i am seeing is that even if the gt's will paper tune, you can shoot the bow at 30 yards and just watch the arrows fly crazy. maddhunter
Re: Gold tips not stiff enough? I shot Gold Tips with my Switchback, 55/75s,28"long. with 100grain field points at 70 pounds and shot 309fps and they fly true. I now shoot Vapor 5000(75/95), 31"shaft, 100grain field point at 285fps. The Gold Tip shafts at a 70 pound pull are only supposed to be a maximum lenght of 30 inches any longer and they don't have enough spine and could blow up and stick in your hand or worse. Guest gfourhunter
Re: Gold tips not stiff enough? try the gold tip ultra 22's. bigger around. i shoot a forge f2 bow with gold tips 5575. 65 pounds 6 grains of arrow per pound of pull pre inch 315 fps. to fast for deer hunting. great for targets. went to 9 grains for hunting 290 fps. a faster bow is unforgiving. shooting high poundage dont make you a better shooter. bows today perform better at low poundage and also last longer. i went to a higher poundage and my bow shot slower and alot of arrow wip. dartonman
Re: Gold tips not stiff enough? I shoot the Big game 100's....but I hate to see you blow alot of money, so maybe if I order the Big game 100's, we could swap out for what you have left in the arrows your not producing with....I can shoot the 7595's great, and Ill find a young man or woman that could use the 5575's........keep us posted, but you cant go wrong with the big game 100's, and sometimes they are on clearance at www.mtnarchery.com great place to get a deal....al
Chrud
Re: Gold tips not stiff enough? I'm right on the edge. I shoot 70 pounds (maybe a little more) and a 28" draw length. I can use about 26 1/2" arrows. I have a 1/2 dozen of GT Pro Hunter's in 75/95. The more I look at the sizing chart, I might have been better off to go with 55/75's. But, I can always buy a 1/2 dozen of those and see what works better. Archery is a lot of trial and error. I like to find places where you can break up a dozen of arrows and just get a couple to try out.
tedicast
Re: Gold tips not stiff enough? My bro and I both shoot GT 55/75 XT Hunters. He is shooting a Switchback at 64 pounds, I'm shooting an outback at 63 pounds. I think your long range fishtailing is either a tuning problem, or a torqueing of the riser problem. Personally, I thing paper tuning is over rated. If My arrows are grouping, and flying straight, I'm not over concerned with a slight off center paper tear 10 feet in front of the bow. You don't say how long your arrows are, but at 71, and 74 pounds the 75/95'sa definately not underspined.
