Need Weight-Loss Advice.

Since I've been in the wheelchair I've packed on some pounds. Yes, part of it is from not being able to get up and about. However, a lot of it has to do with eating unhealthily.

I've cut back to only Sprite soda-wise (still not good I know). Since a lot of times, like at school & home I won't have access to healthy food, I need an alternative.

I've been thinking about trying meal-replacement bars or shakes for some meals. You guys know any good ones?

Also, I grow tired of drinking water after a while. What other fairly healthy things do you all suggest drinking when I need a break from water?

Any other tips are welcome!

Thanks in advance ;)

Get the little packets of water flavoring for when regular water gets boring.

The milk chocolate slim fast shakes taste pretty decent and help with hunger, but I quit those and am now doing protein shakes with skim fat free milk mixed with one scoop of chocolate and one scoop vanilla protein powder.

Get some hand weights and do excercises with your arms to increase your heart rate for a sitting down cardio excercise.

Try and avoid all carbs before noon. Snake on jerky or protein bars. In the evenings eat light proteins like fish and chicken.

Stay away from saturated fat and any white bread. You want to avoid any enriched flour that you can which will be found in any white breads, pastas, ect. Change over to wheat if you are a bread freak like myself.

try and put lemon juice in your water , eat 5 small meals instead of 3 big meals , snack on fruits and veggies more , eat tuna from water not oil , stay away from bread , watch your calorie intake , when some people are Hungary they might actually be thirsty , so drink a glass of water , and if your still feeling Hungary snack on a piece of fruit . eat skinless chicken breasts , grilled or baked , stay away from fried food .

I actually LOL'd on that one. Good thing I am the only one in the office right now.

I'd have to agree with Ben on what to do (besides the milf part, that might get you in trouble). My wife and I have been dieting for a couple of weeks now. We are mainly watching our calorie intake and eating more veggies and baked foods. We allow ourselves one day to splurg but not in excess. So far I am feeling a lot better. Haven't noticed a great deal of weight loss but there has been some. Exercise is always good.

Those meal replacement bars are not a good idea, they have A LOT of calories. I would suggest trying to get as many whole foods as possible, and really pay attention to your portion size.

If you can just drink water, that would be best, but since you may grow tired of that- I'd just stick with low calorie vitamin water type drinks or maybe natural unsweeted ice tea or something. Pop is about the worst thing for you when you're tyring to lose weight.

stay with green vegetables to fill you up. drink lots of water. eat healthy and watch the calorie intake. you simply cannot exercise off the extra calories.

One $1 cheeseburger at McDonald's is a little over 2 miles running, even if you could get up and do it. So definitely want to watch calorie intake. Get your heart rate up to 140 beats per minute and keep it there for a half hour a day is what they say is the minimum, so I think. Many don't get enough fiber in their diet. Water as said is important too. I don't like the meal replacement approach, but Odwalla and Cliff bars are good. Just remember they actually taste good so maintain self control otherwise you'll be taking in even more calories.
