OJR
Last summer I bought a "Memphis Select"! It is a combination smoker, grill and convection oven. It uses pellets for heat. It is the greatest grill, smoker I have ever owned. I have done all kinds of meats, vegetables and even baked a pizza on it! Everything comes out great! Smoked a prime rib and it was out of sight. Do a search on Pellet Grill Outlet and you will see several makes and models. I was going to get a Treager, but they are now made in China and it was really flimsy! Memphis grills are made in Minnesota.
wtnhunt
Lots of options. What kind of heat source are you looking for gas, electric, chracoal? How much are you lookijng to spend? Have a masterbuilt electric here, only regret is that a few months after I bought mine(stainless model) from cabelas we found a little bigger model, also a masterbuilt, with a window at sams club that had all the same features and was priced close to what I gave for mine. Would buy one again without giving a second thought. Had a brinkman smoke 'n grill charcoal smoker before I got the electric. Charcoal will usually give better flavor, but the electric is much more convenient and actually cooks more evenly. Can regulate the temp real easily with the electric. Snipe
So many types are out there. You need to have an idea on how much sausage you will be making at one time will help you determan on what size or type of a smoker you will need.. IMO you should go with something that is lump or charcoal fired. These will give you a better flavor to anything you smoke. Cons are they are a PIA to use for smoking sausage, keeping temps below 200 degrees.. So comes in LP or a Watt burner... The Masterbuilts are good units. You also have Cookshack, Smokin Tex, and Backwoods smokers.. These are great units as well, but can be pricey.. Or you can build one that will suit your needs.. I have 4 smokers and each one I use for something different.. But I have one just for sausage, It is a Watt Burner..

HUNTINGMAN
I got a wood burning smoker here,I want an electric masterbuilt but have no where to store it when not in use. If I was wanting to make sausage I would go with electric because the temps can be regulated much easier. I have been in numerous BBQ discussions and have yet to here anything bad about the masterbuilt smokers.

I keep my smoker in the garage, pull it out to the middle of the doorway when I use it. Fits real nice up against the wall next to a shelving unit.
