ruttinbuc
Depends on the moment and the season. If I let him walk to far he'll get shot here.
danthehuntinman
Another reason I passed on him it was the beginning of november could build myself to shoot a small one like that. If i was the last day of bowseason I more than likely would have shot it.
doubledrop
That deer would have died. Right on Ben. I like how you think
wtnhunt
Kind of interesting here as to some who said they would pass....... Another reason I passed on him it was the beginning of november could build myself to shoot a small one like that. If i was the last day of bowseason I more than likely would have shot it. Ummmm, if anything as to a reason to pass and it came to the last day, I would likely be more inclined to pass on the last day than I would early season. I mean if the deer lasted through all the gun hunters around here and made it to season close I would expect to possibly see him again the next season and would watch him knowing I won the game and could have taken him. Too many times I have seen early season deer I passed up get whacked up the road during the gun seasons. As to what qualifies a deer as a shooter for me it is typically the biggest few deer I know of in the area, usually looking for a 3.5 year old or better and think the deer in your pic fits. Suppose if I had knowledge of some better deer around I may be inclined to pass that one, but chances of that here are pretty slim.
RUTNSTRUT
Young deer with excellent potential, he would get a pass from me on any property anywhere in the country.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Young deer with excellent potential, he would get a pass from me on any property anywhere in the country.Agreed. If you're at all interested in taking a really nice deer someday, that's exactly the type that DOESN'T need to be shot. If however, you're strictly after the meat, I'm sure he'd be tasty. Just don't go around later complaining about never seeing any big bucks in the area you hunt. And remember this - If you decide to shoot a buck just because the neighbors would shoot it anyway....you ARE one of those neighbors. peteski
That could be a buck of a lifetime in New Hampshire!!
wildthing
I give you credit for letting him walk. He'll probably make it through and be impressive again this year. Not sure I could have held off though...that palmation is really cool. Good luck tracking him down this season!
danthehuntinman
My buddy has been getting pics of him the past few days out in the fields in the daylight now.
HOYTnMUZZYboy
I think you did the right thing. I would of let him walk as well. It's a chance we all take when we let those kinda deer go, but when they show up next year it's all worth it.
