We're covered up pretty good here too Todd. I've been getting out quite a bit but haven't found any freshies yet. Hopefully they'll be waiting for us once this snow melts back some.

I've got a set for us so far from earlier in the year and still seeing some bucks packing. Also stumbled upon another honeyhole for golfballs just didn't feel like packing them all out yet, lol.

Only one dead deer so far this season as well. That could change quick with the recent ice layer on top of everything and temps expected to fall.

Good luck to you guys. I figure if we can turn up about 200 sheds we may stand a chance of taking home the trophy, lol.:surrender:

  • 2 weeks later...

Figured it was just a matter of time before I started turning up a few deadheads. I think this guy slipped down a steep slippery slope and got planted in the stream at the bottom. He was a pretty fresh

half rack spiker but that spike was still glued on to tight for me to get loose.

I did see quite a few deer out and about but they never stuck around long enough for any good shots.

....and towards the end of my hike I got a good laugh at this posted sign. You talkin' ta me?

Don't worry Jeremy, I kept the writing in my face.:D

Busy day out there today!

I started out finding this deadhead about 7ft up a tree. Assume it was someones euro attempt from a few years ago. Antlers bleached and chewed/ fur still on.

Hiked a good while longer before making my way closer to some backyards where I've been seeing deer. In the thicket I saw tines and uncovered this oldie 4 pt.

Not far from here headed back into the timber I found this dead doe. She looked pretty fresh- still had her eyeballs.

On my way out now. I have no clue how this one caught my eye other than antler colored bird poop around it. ;D There may have been 1/4" of bone showing. Another crotch horn oldie.

Here I moved some of the leaves away.

Figured I'd found my share for the day and would make the hike home taking the road. As I passed one of my honeyholes I decided to head into it for a quick look where I found my only freshy for the day- a 3pt busted main beamer.

The days paycheck back at the palace.:drink:

Nothing in the way of sheds yesterday, but I did get into a few good looking areas I'll need to get back to when we get another thaw.

My guess is two roadkills here. First one's an old doe. The 2'nd pic a button buck that was VERY fresh and still warm to touch. Concidered a backstrap lunch, but I just had a sammich. ;)

At a few new fields I found a lot of antlerless deer in groups of 10-20 grazing in the distance.

In total I covered over 6 miles yesterday and came home empty handed.

Well I have found 2 so far.......can't seem to find much time to get out and really walk and look......Then when I do have time the ground is covered with snow.......

The sun is shinning today so hopefully all the snow will leave and I can find some time!!

I know they are out there, haven't got many trail camera pics of any bucks lately.....

Sound farmiliar Todd. At least you're on the board for the season.:toot: Can't wait to see your finds! Our last drop of snow doesn't want to leave either. We're looking at a thaw towards the end of the week so hopefully I can get back on some freshies then.

Found another small one over the weekend.......it was hanging by is brow tine off the ground.....kinda cool.

However it was raining so I again didn't have my camera so I didn't get a good pic.

So I am up to 4.

Hopefully I can find some of the bigger/better sheds that I know are around.....

Anyone else having any luck?

Good job Todd! I've never found a hanger before. Good luck with the others you've been keeping an eye on and DON'T FORGET THE CAMERA!!!

By the time we melt out I'm gonna have two seasons of antlers out here waiting to be found. This winter just doesn't want to let go it seems. I might check the local golf course tomorrow just for kicks.

Jeremy, get out there and check them sandbag crossings and storm sewer grates. Maybe drag the bottom of some puddles with a fish net while your at it. Hope something washes up for ya soon.;)
