Here comes winter again....

Had freezing rain today. Maybe 1/4" of ice on some surfaces so far. It's supposed to kick back in tomorrow morning and add up to 1" of ice and then change over to snow and maybe get 8-12" of that. An hour north of here is 12-24" of snow with locally heavier spots. An hour south is 1"+ of ice and then 2-4" of snow. We're just getting rid of the 10-14" of snow we had about two weeks ago.

Then the wind is kicking in up to 40 mph or so and the temperature is plummeting with lows below zero Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Woke up around midnight to sleet, sounded like rain it was coming down so hard. Don't know how much snow we have so far, but as it gets later, it's supposed to get worse. Winds are gusting in the 30mph range, with the strongest in the state 58. Talking about possible drifts in the 3-4' range. Guess I may get out and break a trail to the hiway later, and clean the show off the porch so I can get out of the house. We are supposed to hit 0 think Thursday morning.

Our frost line is only 18" too. Most lines are 24" and deeper. Water doesnt freeze too often if you keep the well house warm and leave the water running.

Yep. When it is bad here I put a heat lamp on in the well house on a timer, seems to work well.

Looks like the timing for this round will have us just seeing high winds rain and then the falling temps. Not calling for frozen precip here now.

It's still blowing sideways here, visibility about a quarter of a mile. Just went outside and my car has a good foot and a half drift around it. Looks like there's at least 10 inches on the roads. The news is saying we've still got a few hours til it lets up.

Another half hour and I'll know if I have to attempt to go into work or not!

Temp is supposed to plummet here tonight, calling for around a 40 degree drop. Got some thunderstorms here now with heavy rain and the wind picking up.

Not gonna see the kind of snow you guys saw if any at all, hope everyone stays safe.

It was funny, maybe funny isnt the best choice of words, but it thundered while it snowed and sleeted last night.

The last time that happened was in 2007 in our major ice storm that left something like 200,000 without power.

We didnt sleep last night once the thunder started.

That sleet last night picked up fast once it started thundering.

We've got some good sized drifts here in the parking lot in front of my apartment, and about 12-14" on the ground. The news is showing quite a few stranded cars out on 169. This OHP is out trying to push people with their cruisers, while others are being loaded up and taken somewhere.

I wish I knew someone with a snowmobile so I could get out and have some fun in this stuff.

These storms have been missing northeast NY but we are going to get our share of this one.

I smell a snow day coming!

yea, this year, down here we've got more snow than you guys i think! by tonight i think we're supposed to have a couple feet. i'm running out of room to put it. a pre-spring thaw better get here! i wish i still had a sled.

...that said this isn't Okie-land. You guys out there have to be all messed up from the weather.

Not as bad here about 35 minutes northeast of downtown St. Louis as what they thought. We've got about 2 inches of sleet and then maybe 2 inches of snow on that so far as of midnight. Earlier on Tuesday morning they were forecasting 8-12 inches of snow and I don't think we're getting anywhere close to that as the radar shows that the snow is close to being done.

They told us at work as we clocked out that we would be shut down today. The sons were told that to not come in if it was a level 3. It is level 3.

The wind made it difficult to get sleep but we are lucky enough to still have power. It helps that it was not as bad as they made it out to be.
