doubledrop
Does anyone else love watching this show? I cannot quit watching it. I love it when they put the deer decoy on the side of the road and bust poachers.
wtnhunt
Yep, we have been watching. Our 14 year old daughter wants to work for the state wildlife resource agency(biologist or officer). So this show, although we know it is just a show, is pretty interesting for us.
Jorden
I watched it when it was first on but then stopped. They dont do a good job making the distinction between hunters and poachers. Also there are rumors that the show is financed by animal rights groups although I dont know for sure, that is just stuff Ive heard.
swohiodave
I have to agree with Jorden. I saw one of the wardens arresting a man for something unrelated to wildlife and a car full of hunters drove by the the warden starting saying something along the lines of " i'm stuck with this guy and seeing that group of hunters drive by is what i live for and i cannot pull them over because of this". I am glad they are not wardens in my area. The game warden in my area down here in SW Ohio used to wave hi as he drove by me in the morning when i hunted in colerain township. That is how a good warden would/should act. They act like every hunter is doing something illegal.
stevebeilgard
i've had many friends who were wardens. most are sincere folks wanting to help the hunter/fisherman. yet, they keep an eye out for the bad guys also. i'm sorry about the bad experience you saw on tv, and i suspect it was said for the effect of being on tv. RTF
Have watched everyone of them. I love my Tivo.
KirkV
Yeah I record all of the episodes and watch them, I feel sorry for them getting tied up with the dope guys when they encounter them but you have to agree they cannot just turn a blind eye and walk away from them to go after the hunters as you saw in the episode you talk about. He even stated he gave the guy a break before and broke his pipe and sent him on his way. But drugs in the hills seem to be a problem in thier area for sure, as people leave town to go to the hills and get high. They do have the people aware of thier presence in the wild though and sometimes that is enough to curb thier bad behavior. William I hope your daughter does get into it and have a good time with it. I wish thier were only more of them to help manage the wildlife but the poor economy and state monies seem to prohibit that...... but that is a WHOLE other subject lol. wtnhunt
Like I said above, we realize this is a show and take it for what it is worth. It is interesting though and it is nice to see poachers get busted. Some of what is shown does seem to have an air for the cameras dunno about the animal rights bias angle since most of the guys say they also hunt. There are some things I don't agree with that are said and think the producers or whoever is editing are in the wrong for putting it out. Pretty obvious some of the places these guys are patrolling have overpopulation issues. I mean they pull up in several drives in a somewhat residential area and half a dozen or more deer go bouncing off. Then they say does are illegal to kill and those killing them are the lowest of the low poachers or something to that effect. Kind of strikes a nerve with me since those who don't know any better might think it is that way everywhere and we all know that is just not true. Also was a caption on the other night saying average hunting bows shoot arrows faster than 300 fps, seems maybe a little exaggerated. Dude was practicing in his back yard, they had no clue when he was practicing, yet they continued on about how he was endangering kids in a schoolyard way off in the background where he had a 3d target and had a rather large block behind it. Does seem to be some assumption on the part of some of the wardens parts when they pull up on people almost like they are guilty until they find otherwise. Other than that it is ok, better than lot of other things that are on and as always if I get where I don't like it I always have the option of flipping channels. Adjam5
I have watched the show also and think TV production has a lot to do with how the show is filmed and the narratives behind it. Way too many people in this country take TV as Gospel and the show throws out more than a few inaccuracies. Hunters are NOT portrayed as good individuals. They seem like prey to the Wardens. We also have to remember this is Kalifornia where it is filmed. So the drugs are common as long as someone has a Dr's prescription for the dope. It also was not mentioned about needing to use copper solid bullets ONLY in Kalifornia. They have a lead ban out there because a condor was found with some lead in its system...PUHLEESE. I must have missed the part why it is illegal to kill hogs which are an invasive species? One guy liked to use a knife in the killing of a hog. The show made no mention of why that is illegal? It was quite entertaining when they were at one guys house and thought they had him dead to rights and found a tag on one of the hogs. He told one of the officers..."if you want to make chief... hang around with me a bit and I'll teach ya about poachers" Too much Hollywood in that show and too much Non factual info being passed off to the public. My oldest son BTW also want to be a ECO( Environmental Conservation officer) here in NYS. He is taking all kinds of animal biology and environmental courses in college now. hoosierhunter
Well every time the show opens it says something to the effect that if it wasn't for game wardens there would be no wildlife. GRRRRRR
unioncountyslayer
It's pretty good. I prefer Operation Wild on Planet Green. Officer "Bean" is a trip! He reminds me of Boo Weekley the golfer. http://planetgreen.discovery.com/tv/operation-wild/
Missilelock
I think they are on a power trip....maybe for the cameras. Those guys are just too anxious to slap the cuffs on somebody/everybody who hasnt even been charged yet. It seems to me they ought to be able to question a possible bad guy without a patdown & cuffs. swohiodave
It does have something to do with production but they and if the wardens didnt have something to go after they would not have a show. Not the best thing for the hunters though. They went into a camp after writing some tickets on the last show and you just see them looking in all of the hunters cars and one hunter had a long gun in the front seat and the camera focused in like it was illegal. I do not pay too much attention to it anymore.
