92xj
My mallard came home with me today. My taxidermist is awesome and willing to place you in front of everyone else if you pay him off early. So, thats what I do and he gets to work. He just finished my mallard for me and paid off the pintail today. Hopefully mid March I will have the pintail hanging on the wall. Anyhow, I think it turned out pretty awesome. I am surprised your taxidermist bumps other customers. Taxidermists around here are very careful not to do that (at least not often) cause if folks find that out, they will stop patronizing them and they fold like cheap tents. I was surprised he bumped me as well, but to him money talks. He has guys dropping birds off with 30 bucks and then not coming back to give him a full deposit of 75 for weeks. I drop my birds off with 100 bucks and in two weeks return with the full payment. I was looking through his freezers today and talking with him and he has enough birds to carry him through January of next year without taking any new ones in. He is doing pretty dang good for himself to say the least. Plus, the fact that he competes with birds that he mounts for his customers is a pretty good confidence point. All in all, I am very please with his work and very happy that he allows money to talk, haha.

wtnhunt
Nice looking birds there Ben, think he did a good job. Almost makes me wanna take up duck hunting and whack some birds to hang on our walls. Gotta agree with Tracy though on the bumping thing. There is at least one I know of around here who in regards to deer will take numbers for regulars to get them in place, but don't think any of the taxidermists I know will get anyone's done any faster by giving them more of a partial or even full payment. Seems that would probably tick off some people in line.

Ohiobucks
Your dog wants in.... The mounts look great. Now I'm going to have to go out next fall and hunt one, just to get it mounted....
Shaun_300
Those are some nice looking mounts Ben! I'd love to get a nice green-head or woody for the wall.
92xj
Went by the taxidermist today and paid him off fully plus a tip. He is starting the Pintail now and should have it done in 3 weeks or so. I changed mounts and instead of going with a full flight in a down stroke I am having him do a taking off the water mount. Should be sweet! I am ready for him and have the place on the wall waiting...
Zambo
Great looking birds. He brings them to life. I really like the mallard. My taxidermist like's to joke: if you pay off the taxidermist in full early it takes longer to get your stuff back. He's got your money now he has no incentive to work for you. He will only take 50% up front as this gives him the incentive to get stuff done on time and get paid.
