Original Realtree

Recommended Posts

I've once again torn my original Realtree apparel to shreds and am scouring the internet trying to find replacements for spring. It's become increasingly difficult to find this old clothing in my size and the older it gets, the easier it seems to destroy. Being more of an avid naturalist, photographer, and angler, than hunter, the general purpose original Realtree pattern fits my applications perfectly during the growing season by being green and maintaining a vertical appeal without the clutter of leaves and junk, allowing movement.

After Timber Ghost fell by the way side several years ago, I recently found Jim Crumley brought back original Trebark. Not the most ideal tone for me in my demographic, as I was passionate over Timber Ghost, but it came none too soon as my fall clothing line was over the road and Ozark Mountain Outdoors failed to respond to my inquire. With the vintage Trebark design, price hard to beat, and clothing lineup more suitable for those who actually use the stuff, I was easily sold.

With the old Universal Trebark and Mossy Oak Shadow Leaf patterns impossible to obtain in usable sizes, and Natural Gear SCII not green enough, I feel the niche is open for a general purpose green pattern. Is there any word or time line involving the original Realtree pattern being brought back?

I'm willing and ready to fill my closets.

Cheers,

Lance

Not sure Lance,, if or when that will happen, will keepyou posted
Thanks for the reply Tim! Will keep checking in. I’d always hoped there’d be a “vintage” reintroduction of the pattern that put Realtree on the market every now and again. Better yet, a small continuous line of clothing available in the original patter, a nylon vented shirt, hat, t-shirt, nylon ripstop zip offs. Would be neat!
Check out Realtree APG...Lots of green in it. It is my turkey camo.
I’ve looked at Realtree APG along with all the other Realtree and Mossy Oak fads out now and those from previous years. They’re great if you’re looking to match perfectly, with all the open panels and clutter, perched sessile for hours on end but without the vertical appearance, they’re worthless for constant movement. I walk, and I walk a lot, in one habitat and out another just as quick. I don’t need a pattern to match nor do I care or want it to as I’m not hiding from anything, it would just be nice to generally blend and not stick out. If it doesn’t resemble tree bark or vertical green foliage, it’s not worth the money. Wearing Realtree APG and all that resemble in these environments, are as beneficial as a yellow t-shirt ;)Cheers,Lance

To each their own Lance. I have killed deer wearing plaid shirts and tie dyed jeans. From Woodland, Treebark, Original Spartan, Timber Ghost, Kelly Tru-Leaf, ASAT, you name it, I wore it. I probably have most patterns out there in something or other. Movement and defeating the stand up image of a man is the key in using all of it. There is always going to be a debate about what works and what don't.
