Talk about relentless. Not a RT topic but just sharing as placing orders on line has taken a new twist. I normally like the on-line chat to confirm if an item would work but Sears took it to a new level. I thought I would never get off the chat as follows:

Please wait for a Sears Parts Direct agent to respond. This chat may be monitored or recorded for quality assurance purposes. Your average wait is 5 seconds. Thank you for holding.

You are now chatting with 'Victor'

Dude....believe me when I say that your experience with Sears was stellar compared to most of mine. As they say, Sears has been trying to go out of buisiness for years but their customers won't let them.

My Mother in law traded me a Craftsman self-starting, self-propelled mower for my push it yourself Murray mower. Second mowing in, my Craftsman mower lost the transmission and the carberator needed reworking. By the way, some 15 years later I still mow HER yard with MY old Murray! :D I've even stopped changing the oil five years ago and it still won't die.

I ordered the transmission and carb parts and had to go pick them up at the sears because they only ship to store at this time. The transmission was fine but the carb parts were incomplete and all wrong. They reordered them and again I drove 30 minutes to pick them up--still wrong, still incomplete.

Long story short, I am still waiting on them to get those parts to me. You can't buy them elsewhere because sears (at least back then) built their motors off spec so you'd have to order through the Sears parts department.

I got so mad that I just went and bought a new lawn mower (John Deere) and sent the Sears customer service man I had been dealing with (for 3 months trying to get these carb parts) the bill. I told him that I had to buy a lawn mower because they were the only ones who could get me the parts because they were intentionally built off spec....then I told him I wanted Sears to pay for the new lawnmower. Now this was purely out of anger and frustration and I didn't really expect them to pay for it and completely forgot about it.

I opened up the mail one day and sure enough, they had sent me a $200 check because they couldn't manage to get a $5 set of carb parts to me. The guy I was working with at Sears said he had continued to try to get them delivered to me even after I quit...he said I deserved the money! :D

UP-Sale... Its a sad requirement from almost all large companies now. I have to do it on a regular basis too. Once your manager gets leaned on to make more money they start to lean on Sales to UP-sale on a regular basis so they can make their line.

Really a horrible way to do business but even McDonald's, Taco Bell, Sonic, Etc. do the same thing these days. Its all about getting as much money out of the customer as you can.

I refuse to shop at Sears after they ripped me off for $200.

It was an over-payment I made on a bill, and showed up as a credit on my card statement. I wasn't worried about it because we always bought stuff there and figured I'd spend it in no time. well, a little time went by, and I never got any more statements, until one day I got a statement that said, instead of a $200 credit, I only had a $25 credit. I phoned and asked them what happened to "MY" money, and they said "We're not a bank sir. Those are the charges to take care of your money.

I asked her why they just didn't send me my money back then, and she said, I had to ask them to do that.

Ripped my card up right then and there.

Remember how long they held onto those odd shaped credits cards back in the day?

I bought a snowblower from them but they carry no parts in the store when I went there. They told to (1) buy a new snowblower (2) try the on-line system.

Both have proved fairly inane.

When the Sears snowblower dies I will get an Airens or John Deere blower from the dealer I have bought my tractor from.

Don't look now Batman, but I know where your $200 went. Thank you, I spent it wisely! :D
