hunting ground blind

I live in the country and have some land and I have some neighbors with a good bit of land. He lives in town and is only there about once a month so I asked him if he cared if I hunted on his land and he was cool with it.

But last year I hunted without a ground blind and when ever it would rain I would have to head for home because I didn’t want my barrel to rust.

So I asked him if I could put up a blind and he said its ok but I have to take it down though the summer.

I just wanted to build one so I didn’t have to pay 100 bucks for one.

So I need to build one that I can take down and use for deer, turkey, and maybe some coyote.

Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forums.

Might look at some blinds along the lines of the ameristep doghouse. Think those can be found around $70 or less.

Not sure what you will be able to build for under $100, but an option for a portable might be build your frame from conduit and use army tent canvas from a surplus store to wrap it. By the time you buy what you need it might just be cheaper to buy a blind. We use canvas from army wall tents for our ladder stand blinds, works real well but have to buy a complete side which usually runs around $60-$70.

Fence rows work real well for blinds, especially when you take a little time to brush in the blind.

yeah i added up every thing i was going to need and it will be cheaper to buy one.

and it might take me 10-20 hours to make.

I have a Doghouse Pop-Up Blind. I have been using it for 4 years. They have enough room for me and both of my kids plus I can still draw my bow with ease. Now Dick's Sporting Goods sells a brand that is very similar to the Doghouse. If you wait until deer season they usually go on sale for $59. You cannot build one that cheap. Check out the link and give them a try.

Here is the ground blind setup we used this past season. Setup was mainly for my 14 year old daughter and wife to hunt. I sat the blind a few times with my daughter, never really hunted it by myself, concentrated more of my time in the woods.

Too bad someone did not hunt the blind more in December, from trail cam pics there was some real good activity down there in the bottom.

Yup I bought one as a spare for $56. It's not as heavy duty as a DoubleBull or Rhino but for the price it's great. Tie it down good, brush it in well, and leave it for a while with the windows open. I prefer the ropes going to trees opposed to using just the stakes when I can. At walmart and other places you can buy cork screw tent stakes that work good.

I found I could put out my Double Bull blind the day I go hunting and the deer do not get spooked. They are easy and fast to set up. I got a deer this year at under 10 yards with my bow the very day I set the blind out.

I saw a guy on eBay selling Primos New Groundmax Scout Chair Blind fr $64.

Deals are out there.

You don't have to leave blinds out and exposures them to damage from wind, rain, lightening or vermin.

Good luck
