Job Offer

I was sitting around yesterday hateing the snow when the cell phone rang. I pick it up and a guy by the name of JB is on the other line. He goes on too tell me that he is looking for a number two man at a golf course about ten miles from here, and that my name kept coming up whenever he talked to local pro's and superintendent. I would be making about double what I am right now, I would have more responsibility, but in a much more laid back enviroment than what I'm working in now. The job would look great on the resume, and there would be no winter lay-off, both good things. The only problem is that its a longer commute, and the Golf Course Isnt as nice as what Im working at right now.

So whats the opinion...do i take it??

The guy said he would hold the spot for me for three weeks so i could mkae up my mind.

Re: Job Offer

Depends on you of course Aaron. I know your plans for Coastal Carolina, your degree, and of course your fiance. Then again, I know your passion for hunting and fishing in this area, and Ohio is right in between Iowa and Martha's Vineyard, so that's a pro for taking the job. Selfishly, I'd love to have you stick around Tom and I, even though we haven't fished or hunted enough together.

There's a ton of courses within 10 miles of Granvill CC--which one is it?

St. Albans about two miles north of alexandria, Ive talked with the little lady about it, and where I'm at in my schooling i could always finish up at OSU, its a tough choice...as you say I really love being around here. Guess i have a few weeks to figure things out.

Is that on Northridge Rd. Aaron? My buddy JD lives out there, he golfs there all the time. He's a good guy. Get him on that course at a "reduced rate" and I'd bet he shows you one heck of a honey hole for huge bucks out in New Albany. I've been fortunate enough to hunt that land in the past, and it's nothing to see 18 deer a night out there, and usually a few booners walking around. JD hit a 170 class in the shoulder out there 3 years ago, I snuck up on a 160 class one night after crawling out of my stand. Full moon, a giant 10pt making a scrape under a pine tree. I'll never forget it. Probably the biggest deer I've ever seen.

Anyway, that's something else to think about if it's the course I'm thinking about.

Re: Job Offer

I guess that's what I am missing. If it's only another 10 miles, why does it sound like you are moving 1000 miles away?

I say go for it. Even if it isn't as nice as the one you are at now, this is a good chance to make it as nice as the one you are at now.

10 more miles, go for it. if they are offering you twice as much money, and it is only 10 miles you arn't going to brake the bank driving an extra 20 miles each day. but again it it totaly up to you.

Okay clear up some confusion, Its take this job and finish up my schooling at OSU and have about a year left, or go to Coastal Carolina, have about two years of school left and have a job in the south, same field just a bit differant speciallty.

Yeah, but is it the one on Northridge Road? Did you read my 2nd post?
