wtnhunt
Favorite call is the black grunt tube I have, old adjustable o ring type. No idea what brand it is. Have called in more deer with that call than any other. Favorite scent is active scrape, best used on licking branches or in a scrape dripper. Texan_Til_I_Die
Favorite scent is no scent - score 10 Favorite call is a pair of real antlers - score
dbHunterNY
i don't usually use scents. try not to walk where i want the deer to go. i have made mock scrapes though with Hot Scrape and had the most luck with that. I've used a Primos Buck Roar grunt call and an old HS Quad Grunter with equal success. I've used the Can call by primos, but it seems like the results aren't that great. jcot2773
Used code red scents all season. Seems to work. I use a primos buck roar.
msman825
for scent i take pine needles and twist them up and rub all over my pants and boots. favorite caller is a 50 pound sack of corn were legal my opinion on calling in bucks is timing. if you caught the rut just right and your in his living room, any grunt, snort wezz, rattling will bring him in, as long as your not to aggressive and he spots you. had this happen many times. most mature deer will circle down wind , Edited February 10, 2011 by msman825
DropTine49
I use Tinks #1 doe pee, as a cover scent while walking into a stand just to cover any human scent that I may have missed and to make it smell like a deer has recently been in the area. 1-10? I have no clue it dosen't seem to help or hurt just there as more of a comfort to myself than anything.
Jeramie
No scents at all however, I do use HS Scents real earth for cover scent. As far as calls I use The Can with a 5 on average but if youre near the rut I give it a strong 10 (as long as it hasnt been over used). It doesnt spook the deer really when they arent rutting but when they are if you sight call the deer they come running. I also use Truetalker grunt tubes. The are actually a decent tube. I wouldnt say it will cover you up with deer but it does bring them to you. I have called in deer with that grunt. Probably a 6'ish. I stick to my guns that knowing the deer is the best way to hunt them....

Flintlock1776
Code Blue Standing Estrous but ONLY during the Rut: 10 I have not found any deer call yet that has a noticable effect
need2hunt
I've used different scents over the years and haven't been impressed with their effectiveness. I do use the HS scent waffers though to help mask human scent. My all time favorite grunt call is a Knight & Hale EZ grunter. I've also had good luck with the can call but will admit as it became more popular its effectiveness has seemed to go down
hungry hunter
The Can has probally brought more bucks in and Deer Dander as a cover scent, two years now without getting busted

Zambo
I use the true talker grunt call. Best used after the first does have been bred. I do a tending grunt sequence. A quick series of short grunts one after another. This imitates a buck tending a doe and I have had great results with buck's running in to see what's up. Once they have had a taste of the rut they can't help but want more. I don't use any scent at all but try to be as scent free as I can and always play the wind. redkneck
I use Tink's 69 a little during the rut, generally keep a flextone grunt, and a primos can with me too. I wouldn't dare give any of them a rating, when those things work, they work, if your timing aint right it's just like peeing in the wind. brownie65
fresh earth wafers are awesome. Really like Tinks smokin sticks, all season and rut sticks.
fly
Can't afford Tinks. I generally use HS doe in rut scent waffers. Got a 161 incher because of them. He had left my area, got downwind of the waffer and came back to smeel it. I nailed him at 25 yards. Grunt calls work during the rut. I've had one snort wheeze work on a buck when grunting alone wouldn"t do it.
