The_Kat
I was going to wait to post this from my laptop, but seeing coreys rant made the timing tongood not to rant away . Excuse my typos as I'm on my iPhone. So last week Cash comes down with a cough, runny nose, and his poor lil eyes were draining mucus. Took him to the dr and she said he had bronchitis, pink eye, and needed to start her prescriptions immediately. This was at 415. Now at this time, the big blizzard had already hit, but roads were still snow covered and dangerous. Anyways we arrive at Wal Mart to get his script when Jenn calls me to tell me they won't fill it. I'm in the truck with Cash so I asked her why and she says they said they are closing early. I told her to come sit with Cash and I'd handle it. I get to the pharmacy which is still open and ask what the problem is and the tech tells me I will have to wait til tomorrow for my script. I politely ask her to please fill it as it is for my sick 20 month old son. She looks to her left at the pharmacist who states they were closing. Somewhat peeved I said you are telling me you can't fill a script for a baby? She then tells me they are trying to get home to their families. Ill be glad to transfer it to a different place.... I said you got the script while open, we arrived before your door was closed, and you will take 5 mins to transfer the script but won't fill it? Lady we are talking about a baby here. She then repeats herself, and I kinda had a moment where I slammed My fist on the counter and told her I hoped she had an $&@"() safe trip home and proceeded to rant loudly as I excited the store. I did stop up front and ask for a manager but none was present. I normally use another pharmacy but they were closed. I understand getting home safe and all that, but the fact they were there already and wouldn't fill it just infuriated me. I called 1800walmart and raised **** and got a call the next day from a regional pharmacy manager who said he was equally upset. He said she should have filled it and assured me it wouldn't happen again. I told him he was right, as I would never be back. And as you guessed it, Cash had to wait 14 hrs for his medicine and got a lot sicker and ended up in the ER. He is doing better now as this was last week. It still ticks me off. I couldn't sleep at night knowing I turned down a person who needed relief from an illness and could be better if I took 5 mins of my time to give it to them. Especially a baby. I hope karma hits her hard. Hope you could follow my story. It's hard to keep straight on a cell .
Guest TennesseeTurkey
Dude, Im not one for suing people but DUDE he had to go to the ER??? That's expensive! Wal-Mart would be paying his medical bills if it were me....
Newarcher
First, I would go back and talk to the manager. I'd explain to them that it took longer to tell you no than it would to have filled it. Find out the name of the Pharmacist and write a letter (nicely worded) about how you will not be shopping at that Wal Mart ever again nor filling any prescriptions there because Pharmacists X didn't help you. Address it to the CEO or President of Wal Mart (you can get it off the website). Once written, accurate and edited for tone to show anger without being over the top, go onto Wal Mart's website and find the investor relations email contact. Send the email with a title 'Please forward to MR/MRS CEO' and then attach the word document to the email--just put a blub in the email body about "I need to have the attached letter forwarded to Mr/Mrs CEO. You will get a reply, most likely from an admin assistant. This is precisely why I don't use walmart pharmacy and only shop there when I have no other choice. Walmart is one of the worst companies out there for customer service and you saw it. New
redkneck
They've done the same thing to me, but was meds I could wait on, not for my kids. That's pretty crappy of them to say the least. Sorry it had to happen to your son, hope he's on the mend soon.
The Bug House
Pharmacists are medical professionals licensed by the state. You should complain to the licensure board as well as Wallyworld Pharmacy , this is a legitamit gripe if it occurred like you said it did. I guarantee that guy was the highest paid employee on duty that night. http://www.ok.gov/OSBP/documents/complain.pdf
wtnhunt
Glad to hear Cash is getting better. I agree with your title, the pharmacist needs fired.
Dawg
That would have been too much for me. Thankfully the nyquil I was trying to buy was just for me. Had I'd been in your shoes........I'm not sure I would have held my composure at all. Walmart sucks!!!!!!! They lost my business yesterday. I will drive to BFE before I shop at Walmart again. Gonna agree with New and TBH's advice.....complain, gripe, raise 9 kinds of cain to whoever you can.
BearClaw
Glad Cash is feeling better. That would not only make me mad but also it's heartbreaking for a parent (I am one) to feel helpless and not be able to help my child. I would definitely follow up with Wal-Mart officials and be as reserved as you can. I wonder how that pharmacist would have felt if it were their child. Five minutes would not have been that big of a deal to help a helpless little baby.
buckee
That's a shame Kyle. I'm glad Cash is feeling better. That's the important thing for sure.
woolybear
I will drive to BFE before I shop at Walmart again. Better walk....your licence is expired, lol! Never used wallys pharmacy. Seems it would be a tad impersonal compared to local town drug stores. Pretty cruddy how a little bad weather can bring out such selfishness in folks in a position where they are expected to help. I'll stick to their hunting department.:1eye:
Jorden
That story infuriated just reading it...absolutely unacceptable. That is just one of the many reasons I do not shop there anymore. If I had a kid and that happened to me, they would have had to drag me out of that store. Amazing the way people conduct business nowadays.
Dawg
I told my wife about this, she's a pharmacy tech at a local independently owned pharmacy in town. She said she sees no reason why they couldn't of filled his script. Said that big businesses like grand ol walmart and walgreens have a 30-45 minute waiting time frame to fill a script. This way the customer is more apt to go buy something within the store.....nothing but some money grudging..........I'll stop there.

elkoholic
Sorry The decision was that of the pharmacist as he/she was in charge, so try to temper your anger at the technician, as they were not in a position to make the choice. The pharmacist, on the other hand, should be held accountable for the decision. As a pharmacist myself, I feel a need to apologize for what happened. I am sorry that someone in my profession would do something like that. I am fairly certain that Walmart upper management would never approve. I am glad that Cash is doing better. philray
That is crazy. It would of been hard not to climb over the counter and slap some sense into them.
ruttinbuc
I'm glad the little guy is feeling better. I'd have a hard time with a situation like that. Powers that be need to be informed of such selfish behavior.
stevebeilgard
that's a truely bad experience and a pharmacist without a heart. i'm always glad to hear a happy ending and that cash is better.
hammerforged
Glad Cash is feeling better, but I would have been hard pressed to control myself at the total lack of professionalism on that Idiot's part. I am proud of you Kyle, don't know I dould have walked away like you did. But there needs to be some accountability somehow along the way, of course I do have a few phone numbers if you need them;)
RangerClay
That's a shame Kyle. I'm glad Cash is feeling better. That's the important thing for sure. My thoughts exactly. I would see that everyone saw your story. I would definately follow Bug's advise and contact the Pharmacist licensing board. Don't be afraid to tell the store manager that you are concidering telling your story to the newspaper.
