LETMGROW
The Bushnell Elite 6500 is great in my opinion.
bruse
Leupold VX III would be my choice. good luck
i'm your huckleberry
One more vote for the Bushnell Elite 6500, second choice would be Leupold FX3 6x42 if you like fixed power.
wtnhunt
Could probably buy 2 nikon monarchs for that money. What are you scoping, and what is it gonna be used for?
Shaun_300
What magnification are you looking for? I know the 6500 is a good scope. For low light you'd want a 50mm, I believe you can get Leupold scopes in 56mm. The bigger the lens on the front, the more light the scope can let in. I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15x50 on my .220 Swift and it is awesome in low light conditions. When you look through the scope it's twice as bright as looking with the naked eye at dusk. Strut10
The Weaver Grand Slam line has some of thr highest light transmission numbers for scopes of any price.
Grady269
just based on the scopes that I have looked used I would rank them in theis order Zeiss Conquest 3-9 x 40- $400 best low light, but least favorite scope Leupold 3-10 x 40, 40 MM VXIII- $450 not quite as good low light but my favorite scope all around Bushnell ELite 3200- 40MM$199 pretty good all around. Not as crisp as Leupold but darn close and better than VXII by far. NIKON Monarch- 3-12 42MM same as Leupold low light I do have a 50 MM Leupold VXII and it is OK low light but not as good as VX III 40MM. VXII 40MM Leupold sucks low light

victor3ranger
Whatever you end up getting make sure you get a 30mm tube with a large objective like a 50-56mm. The larger the tube and objective the more light it will transmit. You won't have to spend near the $800 mark to get a scope. I use a Millett 4-16x56 with 30mm tube, the light transmission is amazing and it is under $300.
bdunn
i will be usein it for deer cuz the always move at last minute. look at a 10 to 14x power. shots will be mostly under 100 and some out to
victor3ranger
The scope I described is what I use on my 7mm Mag for deer hunting. On my other 7mm Mag I use a Millet 3-12x50 Buck Gold, I use it for deer hunting as well although I can really tell a difference in the light transmission, the 4-16x56 with the 30mm tube is a lot brighter than the other. hungry hunter
Some folks are gonna laugh at this, But i got a SWIFT 3x9x40 on top of my .270, great scope great in low light and clairity, and did not break the bank. DropTine49
I'm using a Nikon Team Primos 3-9 x40 BDC now on my 7MM Rem Mag X-bolt. Great scope for the money, I believe that it has been replaced by the Monarch now.
Flintlock1776
I have a leupold 3-9x50mm and like it. I was always intrigued to get a larger scope for the low light you mentioned. I have not gotten one yet but I did a qucik internet search and found these you may want to check out: $480: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=837380 Just slight off your budget but I hear good things about the brand on different forums: http://www.opticsplanet.net/meopta-r1-meostar-3-12x56-riflescope.html Finally, getting out of your range but I found there does not seem to be a lot of 56mm good barnd scopes out there under your range: http://www.opticsplanet.net/trijicon-accupoint-2-5-10x56-30mm-riflescope.html Let us know what you got.
