jcot2773
ok i'm looking at getting a pistol... want a semi auto in the $400 dollar and under price range. I want a full size magazine, and something with a smaller grip for my wife. I was looking at a Taurus 111 in a 9mm but have read MANY mixed reviews any ideas of a good shooting gun in that price range? Also I will carry this weapon concealed so it cant be the size of like a Beretta 92a1 lol
m gardner
I actually carry the Beretta concealed (I'm a fairly big guy and can hide it) but it's out of the price range you're looking for. The Taurus is a pistol that you would buy then shoot several hundred times to be sure it's going to work when you need it. A reconditioned Glock is in your price range. Many ploice depts. turn them in regularly and they get put out for sale by Glock. Same with SIG but they are pricey. huntnfish
At that price range, Taurus is about your best bet. Save up another $100 and find a Glock on sale.
Ethan Givan
At that price range, Taurus is about your best bet. Save up another $100 and find a Glock on sale. The Glocks have always felt bulky or clunky to me, and I have big hands. If you want something for your wife to shoot, she might not like the way a Glock feels. A Springfield xd is about the same price and they have a thinner, ergonomic grip that feels alot better in your hands IMO and they have several different models that would be good for a concealed carry. Grady269
I am sure the Springfield is a great pistol, but I do not know a single Police Department that uses them. Most are Sig or Glock. I just don't think you can go wrong with Glock or Sig.
jcot2773
sigs and glock are out of the price range i was willing to spend. I bought the taurus. so i feel a range day coming next weekend we will probably put a couple hundred rounds down range. will let you know how it works out! m gardner
I think the issue with police and the Springfield XDs is safety and training. It's pretty easy to inadvertently discharge it if you were scuffling around and/or under great stress. Lot's of people use them with no complaints. Watch Rob Leatham's videos on youtube. He shoots them well.
WNY_Whitetailer
You can find a used Glock in that price range. That is approximately what I paid 5 years ago for my Glock 23 that I just sold to my wife's cousin. That was $400 with night sites already installed...You might be able to find one cheaper without night sites.
