swohiodave
you are asking a question that no one else can answer for you. YOU need to pick out a pistol that fits you in a caliber that you can easily control and feel confident with. I would say 9mm is as small as i would go but shot placement will be critical than caliber. I have a Glock 32 (.357 Sig) and a Glock 26 (9mm). I can carry either. m gardner
Glock in 9mm is always a good choice. It's easy to learn to shoot and control. Use 147 grain Hydrashocks. It's a pistol you can buy and load and carry and be confident in without testing it for a few hundred rounds to see if it really works. m gardner
I carry a SIG P220 in 45 ACP. It's the carry model with the single action only trigger. It feels just like my 1911's did but it's much more reliable in the sand. Here's a short video of me practicing on steel plates with it. WNY_Whitetailer
I carry a Glock 27 in an Alessi inside the waistband holster at times. Other times I carry the same gun in an Alessi CQC-S holster outside the waistband. It depends on what clothing I am wearing. Either way, the draw is the same. I would recommend that you purchase the gun that feels good in your hand and that you are able to shoot comfortably. I chose a 40cal because that is what I like to shoot and am comfortable doing so. I also recommend that you obtain some sort of training with your chosen concealed carry piece. That would be money well spent in my opinion. johnf
Glock 19 is a very nice size for carry. Not too big for concealment and very comfortable in the hand.

johnf
Twin Glock 23s. (40 caliber) Didn't he say he wanted a conceal carry gun? Glock 27 would be better if you want a 40. We really like the Glocks at our house, a 19 and a 26. they are very reliable and easy to shoot.
