92xj
Now that I have been out here just shy of 2 years, I am finally starting to get a feel for the land and figure out places that I can hunt and fish. This past season I saw a sign that said "feel free to hunt" and marked it down on the GPS. Well, Saturday I decided to get out of the house and walk around, look for deer, get some excercise and spend time in God's country. Some poeple have no idea what central Washington looks like, so, after these pics you will have a better understanding. This place is 15 miles from the house and free for me to hunt whenever I would like. The only problem is, its free for everyone else in the world as well, but maybe, no one knows about it or hunts it. I did manage to find a few deer and all were still carrying antlers. Do Mule deer hold their antlers longer than whitetails? Anyhow, heres a few pics of the terrain that I hunt, hike and take vacations. And, Yes, I'm well aware that I have more grey hair than all you people, and i'm only 26. Also, ignore that ugly dude in some of the pics, he was blocking the scenery! ruttinbuc
Nice pics Ben! Glad to see you found a place to give you a chance to hunt. Don't know about the antler question. There are whitetails still holding here from some reports.

Newarcher
I turn grey quicker than some...albeit I am 40. I finally have enough facial hair to grow a goatee that, if not respectable is wearable and its more grey than not! Every new hair that grows or regrows is not grey but shiny silver. It looks like my chest has been flocked like a Christmas tree. Better to be turning grey than loose, I always say. Just a hint Ben, I'd find me an alternate spot to hunt as a backup in case you get there on opening day and find a bunch of extra people. Good luck my man, great pics. 92xj
Yeah, I plan to find as much land as possible. Within the 3 closest counties around me, they say there is roughly 220,000 acres of land to hunt, either feel free to hunt land or by permission only. Permission only land is somewhat easy to get rights to hunt so I am not worried about it. I plan to get out every weekend walking and hiking for a couple of reason. One, to find land that I can hunt here, two to lose some weight and get excercise and three, to build up my rolling hill and mountain hiking endurance for a possbily out of state hunt this year. All in all, it looks promising with the land I have already found. The hardest decision to make will be if I want to archery or gun hunt, since in this state, you can only do one or the other. Randy
It's supposed to hit 50 degrees here by Thursday. Hopefully it will take care of all this white stuff on the ground and I can finally see some grass here! LOL Nice pics Benny!

stevebeilgard
that looks like my hunting country, ben. i hope it works for you. i'll teach you how to hunt it this fall, hopefully. the big key is to stay as far away from that jeep trail as possible. 99% of hunters feel the need to ride their 4 wheelers all day long, as if the game is oblivious as to what that means.
