need2hunt
Just like any other gun i would use for turkeys. Try out some shells and see how it patterns at different ranges and then hunt with it within it's lethal range
Ethan Givan
I killed my first turkey with a 20 ga. several years ago. Since then I have primarily used a 12 ga. but sometimes I leave my 12 ga at the house and take the 20 ga with me to change it up a little. I like Winchester Supremes with #5 shot in my Winchester 1300, with a super full choke. Thats what patterned the best out of that particular gun. Generally with whatever shell/choke combo that you find to pattern best, shots on turkeys should probably be kept a little closer than you would normally take with a 12. I did take a bird at 45 yards, 2 years ago with a 20 ga tho lol
Turkeygirl
that's all I use for hunting turkey, deer, small game, geese is a 20 ga. I took a couple birds out to about 35 yards with my 20ga Mossberg and a Red Dot. Going just fiber optic sights this year but same load, same Undertaker choke... My 20 ga. likes Federal MagShok. Best advice is shoot the gun yourself to see how it patterns...check the pattern before you shoot at a turkey.
loner
the key to using any gun for turkey is the pattern at the range you shoot.pick a load and tube that will put enough pellets in vital area of head and neck at 35-40 yards.many hunters use the 20 ga. Strut10
Lil Strut uses a slightly customized NEF Pardner NWTF 20 ga. It's a definite 30+ yard gobbler stomper. Kills them VERY dead. He's using a Comp-N-Choke XX-Full tube and Winchester Supreme 3-inch #5 shot.
hunter109
so i ant got a gun with screw in chocks mine is a fixed full choke just want to know if you would use it it is for a youth but i might use it to
dbHunterNY
i posted this in your other thread.... Adrian a RT Prostaffer on here uses a 20ga Benelli Nova and stacks turkeys with it every year. I think he might use Hevi-shot #5s, but I'm not really sure about the stuff other than his gun. ...also, I shot a Mossberg 500 20ga for a little while. I used the factory flush full screw-in choke with Remington Wingmaster HD #4 turkey loads in that. It seemed to work well, but my shots were all too close to tell any difference. Turkeygirl
Hunter 109...your gun would def. kill turkeys, it's just a matter though of making sure you pattern it first to know your range...rather than go out and just shoot at a bird and risk wounding or missing it...and it stinks bad when you work hard to get a turkey in close then miss it,lol
Strut10
Ask these birds what they think.

dawei851
i just bought my little sis a 20ga. in full choke what you all think about hunting with a gun like that i mean how you think it will pattern and what shoot you all addvise me to use in it i know it is going to be a 3 in shell but what you think the pattern will be like jwIf your gun is a fixed FULL choke I would recommend using Federal® Flitecontrol® Mag-Shok® 3" Magnum 1 5/16oz loads of #4, 5, or 6 shot Pb (#PFC258). Get a box of each & see how they pattern in your sister's gun. Should these not perform to your liking then try............ • Remington® Nitro-Turkey 3" Mag 1¼oz #5 (#NT20M5) • Winchester® Supreme® 3" Mag 1 5/16oz #4 (#STH2034) • Winchester® Supreme® 3" Mag 1 5/16oz #5 (#STH2035) As your gun is a fixed full choke I would use Pb and stay away from HTL so as to not damage the choke. Had Rem-Choke threads cut for the Comp-N-Choke tube and added a Weaver rail to mount the red-dot sight.
