trky chsr
Looking for a quality slate call. Any recomendations? TC
Flintlock1776
I have had several but I like my more recent acquisition, Cody Drop Dead Slate. A bit expensive but the sound it produces is very good. If they had a protective cover for the slate that would be better. It brought some Toms in for their last peek on this earth:1eye:
Nut
I use the Knight & Hale Sla-tek one along with a couple from Primos. I have so many I forget who made what and what they are called. But if I was looking for a new slate call right now I would go with a custom made one. I think they are better than the mass produced ones for longevity. dbHunterNY
Andy (bowhunter56) makes some nice ones. I don't have one. Although, from what I've heard and seen in pictures they are pretty nice. Not sure he's around the forums anymore or not. I know some here have his contact info. If you got one from him it'd be one of a kind. Otherwise, I've used Mt.Hollow, Primos, H.S., and Quaker Boy. They all work well I like the sound of slate opposed to glass or aluminum calls. Slate won't work when wet though. It seems like any pot you use only works better the more you use it.

loner
there are many pot call makers out there.some pretty, some fancy and most all do the same thing but at different cost.i have three custom calls from three different makers and have bought more at wal-mart that do the same as the others.buy a cheap one, learn to use it and when you find the sound the toms seem to like the best, stick with it.like guns, some people like the looks as much as the results.it just depends on the individual's preference. BamaTrae
Last year I got a "Fatal Attraxion" call from Stoney. He did a great job, and it sounds awesome. Check him out. http://fatalattraxion.com/ Also, I really like the "Chuck and Purr Pot" from Woodhaven calls. http://www.woodhavencustomcalls.com/index.asp But my usual go to call is my Primos Freak. It's the glass one, sounds great! Good luck!

LETMGROW
Check out www.gobblestalkercalls.com. Kevin is a Canadien National Champion caller. His craftsmanship is outstanding. I have a couple calls Kevin made and I really like them. He came down to hunt with us last year and called in what I thought was an impossible Tom. Nice shot on the bird also. Great website too. Give it a look.. Lynn

dsharp01
I own a Primos Ol Glory and Ol Betsy and both work great and have brought in several birds, male and female. I also own an original Quaker Boy Majic Touch, which I have to admit was tucked away in the vest for years and not used. But last year it made its comeback by calling in several toms. All 3 are slate but it depends on what sound you like. My advise is go to your local hunting shop and play with a few calls and ask what their best selling pot call is, then BUY ANYTHING BUT THAT CALL!! You want to sound different so you will be that "new" hen in the woods. If your call sounds like everyone elses it may hinder your perfomance. Happy Call Hunting!! :gun2:
jbeck
I think you should get an original DD Adams duplex, this is a slate top with glass underneath. that would be the call for you, now I just so happen to know someone who may have a few in a trophy case at an undisclosed location. : )
