Mach1
Looking at buying a tonneau cover for my F150 Super Crew soon. With another baby on the way, having something that will keep the truck bed and our stuff dry for the 2+ hour drive to grandma and grandpa's is needed. I don't really want one of the snap or velcro covers, but want something that's easy to install/remove/fold if I've got something big to haul. I've been looking at Advantage products (Torza Top, etc.) and the BakFlip products. Anybody have good/bad experiences with either? Pros/cons? Thanks. Mach1
I've basically got it narrowed down to the Torza Top and the Hard Hat, both from Advantage. Both models also come in a "Premiere" model that has what they call a "ragtop" material.
jm23494
I have a BakFlip G2 on my truck and love it. Even in the cold you are still able to open and close it, unlike the soft covers.
Ohiobucks
Check this out: http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97585 I've got -zero- regrets with my Bakflip purchase. It looks great and works very well. I ended up going with the Bakflip HD. Edited March 2, 2011 by Ohiobucks
Shaun_300
Torza tops are the only ones we sell at the dealership. They are great! They come on and off in literally a minute.
Mach1
Torza tops are the only ones we sell at the dealership. They are great! They come on and off in literally a minute. How's the durability of the material? With it being strictly a vinyl covering, I'm a bit concerned. I don't know anyone that has one, so I can't check one out. My reason for including the Hard Hat was because of the rigid material within it. It's basically a Torza Top with the rigid material contained in it from what I gather. I like that it would provide a little more security and stability for heavier snows and ice.
Shaun_300
I haven't heard of any of them tearing or anything. Seem to be pretty durable. I know GM has them for the Silverado and Sierras with the hard shell with the vinyl covering, Look and function just like a torza top but have the hard shell. If it were me I'd get the torza top for half the price. Just make sure the snow gets cleaned off. Only one I heard of that got damaged was one of the local guys who owns a french fry truck left a pail of french fry oil in the back of his truck with the cover on. Some stupid raccoon came along and ripped a hole in the cover to investigate the yummy smell.
Mach1
Went with the Torza Top. Ordered it online late Thursday night and received it yesterday morning via FedEx. Installed it this afternoon very easily. Looks nice and I'm pleased with the purchase. Also installed the K&N air filter I ordered. Hopefully I'll get a slight increase in mpg with this combination and these gas prices.
