Dawg
I don't agree with them choosing funerals to picket at but as the court ruled it is their constitutional right to do so. Again, I don't agree with what they are doing.
wtnhunt
Wacko's from Westboro, totally disgusting what they do, think that funerals should be able to be protected from such harassment. First amendment offers free speech, that should not extend to the point these jerks take it where they harrassing people who are already hurting over lost loved ones. Jeramie
What a shame... Those people give real believers a bad name. However, as far as constitutional rights, they have the right to voice their belief (no matter how wingnut it is). God will deal with them far more harsh than that soldier they are laying away. Its sickening but girting our freedom to speech belt would only give lawyers something to use. Before long actual freedoms of speech would slip away. VermontHunter
I don't see how this can be considered first amendment rights ... Let's see ... If I were to stand in front of someones home/business and scream obcentities at them ,, I bet it wouldn't be long before I was arrested for harassment, public nusince and a whole lot more. But these fruit cakes get away with harassing military funerals and hide behind the very same constitution these soldiers died for .... :hammer1: It's like they say it's someones right to burn and desicrate the flag in public ,,, well all I got to say to that is I'm going to exercise my right to defend that falg to it's fullist .. count on it .. So long as the wacko's are on public property they can civilly protest Luke, likewise so long as you were on a public property you could also express your right to free speech. Local laws should stipulate what is deemed nuisance or harassing and those law enforcement agencies where they can should nail these jerks every chance they get. hammerforged
I understand that the right to free speech is at the very core of our Constitution and Bill of Rights but there has to be some form of temperance in certain things, just as it is illegal to yell "fire" in a crowded theater. What about the rights of the families of these men and women who gave the ulitmate sacrifice so that crazies like these from Westboro can voice their opinion, should they not have the right to lay their loved one to rest without disruption or diversion? Yes, it is legal and should be for Westboro to practice their right to free speech. However, there is a line of decency that exists and when crossed blood will eventually be shed and that is NOT a good thing. I hope these Justices have the forethought to realize that, that blood will now be on their hands but I am sure that they hold themselves above this baseness and harbor NO responsibility for the devastation to come as a result of their actions today. Sorry - Rant mode off now.
Ravin R10 man
See..these 'idiots" dont realize that men like the ones they are protesting at the funerals have died for the freedom they have, it was paid for by blood.
KirkV
I am sorry but it is this type of group I would love to run at with a paintball gun and shoot silly. I mean screaming bloody murder and filling their butts with paint and pain. Then simply walk away. Makes me boil just thinking about them. I mean right is right and wrong is wrong Right?
