WaCoyote
Either is fine. 150 will go a touch flatter, but not enough to really matter. I shot 165 last year but going to 150 this year. Either one will kill any deer without prejudice. Which ever you shoot best.
Strut_Buster
Re: 30/06 I'd go with the 150, its just a lil flatter shooting.
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: 30/06 Which one does your rifle like the best? Sounds like you already have a pet load in the 165 grain. I would use that. I would sight in 2" high @ 100 yards. What bullet are going to use? I shoot an 06 also-----I use 180 grain Hornady Spire points for my hunting----mostly elk now----but I used them on bear, deer, antelope, mtn goat & bighorn. Plain jane bullets work just fine out of the 30/06. Good Luck---CB
WaCoyote
Re: 30/06 [ QUOTE ] so what would be your bullet brand [/ QUOTE ] Oops, missed that part!! I'm doctoring a load with the 150 grn scirocco and the 150 interbond. Great flat shooters. Which ever one shoots the flattest will get the nod. If your 165 grn shoots good though, dont fix what dont need fixin.
robk
Re: 30/06 whichever you shoot your deer with shoot that one it is what your confident in and will do a great job for you. don't change no matter what you will be much more confident in your weapon as you will know the in's and out's of your bullet rob k
AJ
Re: 30/06 Basically it does not matter which one you choose. While the 150 gr does fly flatter than the 165 gr bullet, its only 3/4" less at 300 yards. This is when they all start zero'd at 200 yards. Compared to a 180 gr bullet, they are within 1" at 300 yards, so it really does not matter. Mulies and pronghorn are not extremely tough animals and the .30-06 is not a speed deamon so you don't need controlled expansion bullets. Just shoot what you are used to using for whitetails and you will be fine. Practice at longer ranges so you are ready when the goat is 300 yards out and you will be fine. David_218
Re: 30/06 I always liked the performance of the 165 grain boattail bullets for long range Western Deer Hunting in my .30-06.
JimT
Re: 30/06 Yup. either will be ok. I would just use whatever you use on whitetails also....
hutchies
Re: 30/06 Either will take down a deer. I personally shoot 180 gr but I am shooting in thick brush and might catch a limb or pice of vine. So I shoot the heavier stuff because it will carry thru better. But in open range conditions I would shoot 150gr.
