John
I am wanting a new release. What do you folks use?
hutchies
I've tried quiet a few. Backtensions, wrist releases, thumb triggers, pinky triggers, and even hydraulic. My biggest issue has always been switching back and forth to my hunting release messed me up. I'm shooting a Truball Sniper 2 with a Spring trigger now. Still get the surprise release like a backtension but I can wear it on my wrist.
dbHunterNY
i'm using a size large Stanislawski Shootoff Quattro. if you don't know, it's a thumb trigger style release to fit four fingers around it. it's got weight/tension and travel adjustment for the trigger. you can make the trigger as crisp as any rifle trigger you've felt. also, you can move in and out or rotate the barrel of the trigger as you so desire. i shoot it using back tension. the barrel goes in the crutch of my thumb and hand. my thumb is on the end "horn" part of the release. i just pull with my back until it goes off. Tony
for indoor and 3D i used to shoot a Carter Solution 2. its BT release with a safety. for hunting i shoot a Carter 2 shot wrist strap release. i find that once i learned what BT was, it was easier for me to find that feel with my hunting release. as of lately i have gotten out of Indoor shooting and now concentrate more on hunting preparation and shooting 3d with my hunting gear. tedicast
I am currently switching back and forth between a Carter Atension hinge, and a Carter Choclate 4. Shooting the hinge has made me a much better shooter, and I hope soon to be able to shoot it exclusively. Personally, I don't mix my hunting gear and my target gear. While I'm shooting Drenalin LD's for everything, My hunting and target rigs. and release are totally different. I shoot a Winn Free Flight hunting. It just works well for me this way. Diamond Archer 01
I recently bought a carter ht2000. you can change it to either use it was a thumb or a pinky release. i am using the thumb trigger now and i like it a lot. it has improved my shooting quite a bit. i highly recommend you give it a try
