Dakota
After a ton of shooting on Wednesday and Thursday (pheasant hunt out at Wings of Thunder lodge outside of Kimball, SD with a bunch of Make-A-Wish sponsors), my shoulder felt like it was wrenched out of its socket...so what did I do? I heard there were a ton of geese south of town from my boss this morning and, after work, picked up a Jimmy Johns sub, swung by the house and picked up the 10 gauge (of all the guns to shoot when your shoulder is hurting) and chased some snows (which is a lot like tornado chasing lol). I ended up finding a couple fields with thousands of snows and parked the truck at a field entrance. I was planning on sneaking down the ditch to pass shoot when I noticed three snows above me as I shut the truck door. Well, I pulled the hammer back on the 10 ga. single-shot and hammered this nice bird below, which is not only my first spring snow (I usually shoot them in the fall), but also my first 10 ga. snow! PotashRLS
Dude.......you can't shoot swans. You better start shovelling and delete that picture Seriously, nice bird and wow, shooting a single shot 10ga. That is punishment.
Dakota
Seriously, nice bird and wow, shooting a single shot 10ga. That is punishment. Actually, it's a pure joy to shoot! It's very heavy, so it pushes against the shoulder instead of kicks. My dad has a single-shot 12 that is extremely light and kicks about 3-4x more than my 10. I was shooting Black Cloud BBs and I'll tell you what, they stay the course even through heavy wind. Looking forward to going out again tomorrow with some friends. One was enough for me today, I was still in my work clothes (jeans, sneakers and all), the fields were extremely muddy and, to top it off, the wind helicoptered my bird a good ways back into the field so it was a bit of a walk. Dakota
Good deal. Nice shot. Thanks! Here are a few more pics from the weekend. First, another picture of the bird above. Now, from Saturday. My buddy, Ben's first snow! My bird. We saw a ton of birds, just didn't have very many opportunities while pass shooting.
