Strut10
Me & Lil were out and about this afternoon doing a bit of this and a bit of that. We planted 25 persimmon seedlings. We took down and brought in 3 Cuddebacks. We dropped a few maples in strategic locations for game cover purposes. Tried 1/2 cutting some of them with limited success. They seemed to be awfully dry & brittle already. Whether the 1/2 cutting works or not, the canopy around some beneficial tree varieties has been opened up some and there is brushy cover in the downed trees on the ground just in time for gamebird nesting season. dbHunterNY
Yea did some cleaning up around the yard, banks, and around the garage. I'll do some more tree cutting for game management at some point this week. It's snowing now though :bang:. I've got a field I've kept up with next to the yard with some pine trees in it. I'm planning on clearing them out a bit and putting in an apple orchard this spring. I went for a walk out back. I want to hinge cut in this one open area back in the timber to give some cover year round. I've got a couple shooting lanes to cut too. dogdoc
good luck the persimmons. I have a bunch of persimmons and they get a lot of activity from just about everything. Every year I plan on marking all the females and cut down the males after season but never get around to it. I have a lot of work I need to do also. todd
