ruttinbuc
I found this guy hanging out with his girlfriend in the creek behind my place. I don't think he knew I was there or didn't give a darn. Maybe the sun was in his eye.

ruttinbuc
Thanks Shaun, William and Matt. Here are a few more for you to enjoy. This is the drake's girlfriend. Looks like she had an injury to her bill. Maybe one of the many viewers would be willing to respond to her condition. Turkeygirl
Great shots RB! Noticed on the male he's got a chunk out of his beak tip...wonder if he's a hunting season survivor...
ruttinbuc
Thanks Ruth. I saw his broken bill and was thinking he might have chipped it in a fight. I see them get pretty darn nasty with each other over the hens. One of these times I'll get that on a SD card, lol. There is not a whole lot of duck hunting close, but who knows where these ducks come and go. I hear shots down on the river now and then, but you would have to have a super dog to go retrieve them. At least a fast boat and a spotter.
wtnhunt
Think there is probably no telling about the beak Mike. Some really nice shots there. Never can seem to get very close to the ducks around here, that is unless I am sitting in my deer stand down by the river, then I have them all over me. lol. ruttinbuc
Although I was zooming this pair, I was still surprised they allowed me that close. They normally would either bolt and fly out or swim in the other direction. Maybe they know me better than I know them and are just used to me not being a threat. I guess as long as they are not surprised.

wtnhunt
While Christina and I were out over the weekend chasing turkeys we saw three mallards fly through the woods and one ran smack into a tree. Light bulb went off and I immediately thought of Mike's post here and got a good chuckle while telling Christina about it.
ruttinbuc
LOL, William! I saw that happen a couple times. They are so strung they spook and just get out of there. Sometimes flying into stuff.
