92xj
Anybody butcher any bovine themselves or have it done at the farm/house.
ruttinbuc
What does butchering have to do with decor?
92xj
I need a hide for an idea that I have. But I dont want to pay the 200+ bucks for one off the internet. If I could get one myself, I would tan it myself and complete my decor idea.
92xj
Corriente would be ideal but open to any and all options.
wtnhunt
Got 5 calves I just got done chasing from our yard back into our pasture. One is a freaking troublemaker keeps getting out, found a loose spot in my fence and this time led the others out. Bout time to send them off to the stockyard. Considered keeping one for the freezer, if we do will keep in mind that you are looking for a hide.
ckrich
Try finding a local full service butcher shop that does custom slaughter. You might be able to talk the owner or manager to sell you a fresh hide pretty cheap, and then take it to your taxidermist to get tanned. Most places just feed them to the pigs.

You could get a hide from a local place cheaper than you could have one shipped to you.

We did it just like a deer and it took all day. I don't believe we'd ever do it again. I don't have a chest freezer yet either.

Now that I think of it. That's probably true. The hide is pretty heavy.
92xj
I have a lead on a HUGE brindle longhorn hide. Hopefully we can get it all worked out!
