elkoholic
As for a contact on where to hunt, try to get the name and phone number of the game warden assigned to that area, those guys can be of great assistance. Be willing, and in good enough shape, to get several miles back off of the roads. Study topo maps of the area, looking for secluded basins and benches on the mountain sides. One last thought, if you have never experienced trying to get an elk off the side of a mountain, just remember that an elk quarter may weigh as much as the biggest deer you've ever shot. You should have a great hunt.
hornaddiction
Re: Colorado elk hunt You will find you best luck in big canyons with lots of dark timber. Get as far away from others as possible but as elkoholic stated "the pack out will be tough".
billkay
Re: Colorado elk hunt We looked at an area in the White River area NW of Denver. They had a very large elk population and it was an over the counter area.
