ruttinbuc
Shaun, My 2003 Chevy Silverado, 4x4 extended cab with about 102,000 miles. When driving and turning at low rpms. the vehicle steering will tighten up, sometimes completely lock up, and shut off. I will put it in park and shut it off. It restarts no problem and usually doesn't lock up after that for awhile. Any help is appreciated. Shaun_300
Sounds like you have a dirty throttle body Mike. Take the intake pipe off and clean out the throttle body, especially where the blade meets the body at the rest position. Carbon will get in there and take up some of the air gap between the blade and the body and the engine will not get as much air as it should at an idle. The tightening up of the steering sounds normal, once the RPM gets low the pump can't produce a lot of pressure. Might be a good idea to spray the MAF sensor off with brake clean while your at it, it can cause similar issues. It's the sensor right at the air box. ruttinbuc
Thanks Shaun. I can handle that it. I flunked inspection with that code P449 again. I'll have to get after that EVAP once and for all. I'll let you know how I do.
