bowhuntMN
I've had a splash cymbal since I first bought my cymbal pack years ago but haven't mounted it yet. I was thinking about putting a mount on one of the tom rods so the cymbal would be directly in front of me, but had second thoughts when I realized this could get in the way when I transition between the two toms. Has anyone mounted a splash this way before and had problems? Or how do you/how would you mount a splash on your own set?
Norm Sauceman
I just purchased some extra stands for my drums so I could just move them around more and find exactly where I wanted them. LOVE those Pearl Forum drums!! Edited April 2, 2011 by Norm Sauceman
ruttinbuc
Depends on how big it is You can put it there just in reach, but high out of the way of the toms. Easier to hit with either hand, too. ...................splash ....crash ........................... ride ............... ..tom...tom Hi hat....snare............fl tom...........crash

stevebeilgard
We need a singer and we could have a RT forum BAND  just so you know, i'm frequently asked to sing tenor solo. unfortunately, that means tenor 12 block away and solo no one can hear.... ruttinbuc
I had a clamp on the cymbal stand like this example shown for a cowbell and woodblock. The black kit has the splash where I suggested it be. I guess it comes down to your style of playing. Like any tool it needs to have a place where you can work with it. Hunt or be Hunted
If you mount it off your toms, I don't see anything wrong with it. I have one mounted like that at the church and works great
jcot2773
Mine was mounted between my 2 toms over the base.. i used it a lot in a transition so it was easily reached there. just depends, If you do mount it on the tom offset it off the back so your drum head is not covered if you are worried about clearance.
