Jeramie
I have the chance to pick up a 1965 Remington 700, BDL, chambered in 7 Mag. Stainless barrel, all original, good shape. The guy wants to buy another gun and is dieing to get rid of this. What is it worth? Ive taken the usual gunbroker route but cant really find a good value considering nothing lines up. They range anywhere from $250.00 - $1500.00. What would be a fair paying price? (Need it asap before he sales it cheap to someone else)
victor3ranger
I will give you $150 for it:cowboy: I have a 1966 M700 BDL 7mmMag, it would make a good companion gun to the one I already have.

92xj
Ask him what he wants for it. You never put a price on another man's gun. The seller always has to set a selling price. If he insist on you picking a price, say 5 bucks. If he doesnt like it he will come up with his own price. I have sold stuff for way over value as well as under value, I never let a buyer set the price on something I have to sell. Tell the guy to man up and price his own gun if he wants to sell it so badly. If he has a price on it and you are trying to decide if that price is fair. Dont go looking for what a different gun is worth to someone else. Decide for yourself if you think that gun that he is selling at his price is what you want to spend on a new gun. If it's not, go look somewhere else and let him sell his gun at his price. I have seen the exact same gun sell at two very different prices. Thats the advatage of you selling your own stuff, you decide the price and you also get to decide the price you are willing to spend for something that you want to buy. edit: just did some googling for you. I can see why you are having a hard time finding a price. there are just way to many 700 BDLs listed to come up with something worth while. edit 2: Found one that a guy picked up for 200 bucks. edit 3: just found one that a guy bought in a 30-06 in PERFECT condition; he paid 375 for it. I would say 200-400 dollar range for the gun depending on the condition. Edited April 7, 2011 by 92xj
Jeramie
I buy, trade, and sale guns a lot. I just havent been around the original 700 BDL market in quite a while. I know the 700 adl models can and willl bring $350 - $425 around here. Thats really funny because you can buy one for $400 new at Walmart! I know about what I would pay max for the rifle. I know what a lot of them are going for but I wasnt sure about this one being a very, very clean SS barrel and a 1965 model at that. I made him an offer, he took it. I feel bad about it..... well, not really but I probably should. I think I got a really good deal. I dont know if Ill keep it or trade later but for the $$$ I couldnt pass it up. smallmunster
The 30th Blue book of gun values lists the 700BDL Custom Deluxe (only BDL model I could find with stainless bbl and 60's manufacturing date) at : 100%- $740 98%- $575 95%- $450 90%- $350 80%- $300 Add $27 for 7mm Rem Mag caliber. Add 15% for stainless steel barrel. SS barrel model was manufactured from 1962 until 1970. Should be 24" long
Jeramie
The gun is easily 95+ percent! Very clean! However, I was told it was a SS barrel. It was blued but I knocked the price down and got a little better deal. I own only two guns that are SS or nickel out of dozens so im ok with it... Was a great buy. This thing is is very, very good shape! Ill get pics up this weekend.

Jeramie
I was wrong.... it is a SS rifle! I didnt know they blued them. I talked with a guy that told me that today. Sure enough, stamped on the barrel is SS! Look for the post of pics in here...
