Strut10
Well................. if you were hunting rabbits and you jumped on a brushpile and no rabbit ran out, would you keep jumping on the same brushpile or would you go find another brushpile?? Sounds like you need to scout some other areas and find one that holds birds.

Leo
Seeing any sign that birds are in the area? IE. Tracks, scratching or droppings. Some days the birds just aren't vocal. It doesn't mean you can't hunt them or they aren't there. Find sign you can see and hunt the area with confidence. I hunted new property for the second time a couple days ago. I did not hear the first gobble until 11:00am. First day I hunted there I heard nothing but I did find sign. Second time I heard nothing at daybreak either but concentrated my efforts where I first found sign. Now I've heard a bird there and know they are mostly using the area in the middle of the day. I'm getting closer to zeroing in on them there now but I understand how discouraging a silent day can be.
dsharp01
Just cause you didnt hear any birds doesnt mean they arent there. I've had days where nothing has gobbled but I knew there were birds because I've heard them days before. Sometimes they will gobble 1 time and thats it due to having hens with them already. I would scout the land out better and not run all over through the woods cause a turkey will spot you long before you spot it. Try roosting at night and try and get some to sound off. Also wouldnt hurt to hit up some other land and try your luck there. Try reading some magazine article and they will teach you alot. I understand the frustration :bang:
jbeck
Turkey leave sign when they travel if you didn't find sign I would start looking at a new area.
Rhino
Sounds like you need to scout some other areas and find one that holds birds. Yep....You can always go back there and check for fresh sign, especially a day or 2 after a rain. In the mean time I'd be spending my time hunting where you see turkey sign. Nate22
Finding some turkey sign would be a huge confidence booster for sure but last season we didnt hear but one or two birds gobble for the first 2 or 3 weeks but the last week and a half we bagged 6 birds. So not hearing them isnt as big of a concern yet as finding out whether the land your hunting is holding birds or not.
