Jeramie
This is the one I bought last week. Im not 100% sure ill keep it but it sure is a beautiful rifle! It has a couple of small spots on the top but I think they will oil right now. The stock is incredibly clean. I was told it was a 1965. Im not sure of the year but it is in incredible condition! Ive owned a few new Remington 700 rifles but this is the first of this age.

gzilla45
It looks in great shape and I bet is fun to shoot. I think my next rifle will be a 7mm mag or a .300 win mag.
Shaun_300
Awesome looking rifle Jeramie! Always loved the 700s. Dad has one basically the same as that but a bit newer in .300 Win Mag, killed my first deer with it that's now on the wall. Sweet shooting rifle. LETMGROW
NICE! Good looking rifle. If it shoots as good as it looks, you have a good find. Enjoy, Lynn:toot:
Leo
You can't hardly find one with iron sights on them nowadays. I killed a doe with a 7mm Rem Mag just like that one using iron sights, many many years ago
Adjam5
Great buy! That cartridge was quite young when that rifle was made. 1963 is when the 7mm mag made its debut. Nice and flat shooting. Good Luck with it!

Jeramie
Walk toward the light, Jeramie. Walk toward the light. I dont know if I can compromise my morals.... A great gun, great caliber, great condition. What’s not to like? The cost of shooting.... New die set, brass, bullets, and powder (may use some powder I already have). It can and will get costly. redkneck
Well how much is factory ammo? How much are you going to shoot? I'd figure as popular as 7mag was you could pick up ammo for under $30 a box. My Wby ammo went up to $65 so last couple of years I've shot more of the 243 and 45-70 what little I rifle hunted when I wasn't in the tree with a bow. However, I shoot a lot. That 20 rounds wouldnt last me one time out. I often load and shoot between 40-60 rounds per rifle, per trip. You can see my delima. Im not one of those guys that buys guns and sticks them under the bed. I like to really dial them in and play....

Can't be a pansy Jeramie, the cheapest stuff to shoot aint always the funnest! Point taken.... I do have a couple of bottles of IMR4350 to load with. Its probably one of my favorite powders. Im not around a chart but im pretty sure it will load for 7mm (slowburn). It would take a box of good bullets and a die set. For around $50 - $65 I could be good to go (minus the brass)... decisions, decisions. Oddly enough I have a Leupold 3x9x40 sitting in the gun cabinet too.... Strut10
I dont know if I can compromise my morals.... Sometimes upgrade brings you out of your comfort zone. Just go with it. We'll have youup to speed before you know it. P.S. Look around online for a good used set of dies. The 7 Rem uses very little more powder than the 30-06. The components are basically the same price as they are for an '06, too. Like Nike........................ just do it.

I also bought a big deal of Lee shell holders several years ago so Im set there too. Now im tossing around the idea of buying the mounting and putting the Leupold on it this weekend... Jeramie
Im headed to pickup the mounting and rings. I cleaned the Leupold last night. Looks like im at least going to give her a chance before I usher her out the door.
m gardner
It's from 1965 for sure. The pressed checkering was a standard item then. They were fairly light well balanced rifles and shot well. The trigger is pre-lawyer proof and should be adjustable to pretty much anything you want. Nice find!
