wtnhunt
Yup. Boehner has always seemed like a pretty common sense type of guy to me. No doubt he has it right here. Raising taxes on those who have the ability to employ more folks sure makes a lot of sense right now. Obama and the libs are either so out of touch with reality that they have no clue what working class America is dealing with at this time with rapidly escalating inflation and fuel prices soaring or it is just part of their plan to bring this country yet another step closer to socialism. Wonder what ever happened with Obama's mention a month or so back on opening our reserves to help alleviate the pain at the pump? From all I have heard fuel consumption/sales are down as much as 20%, does not make a lot of sense that prices at the pump took another 10 cent jump since yesterday. If Obama really wanted to get the economy back on track he would promote drilling here and now.
gzilla45
I honestly think the democrats want higher gas prices so they can further push their "green" agenda on us.
m gardner
I have 2 friends that came here from Serbia and became citizens. They said 28,000 Serbs left and went back to Europe last year and that they will too. My friend is visiting from Spain (he loves to come here and shoot USPSA) and says that Europe is very worried about the damage done to our economy by our Benevolent Dictator because it directly impacts them. They think we're doomed actually. Raising taxes will only finish the job. Mark
PotashRLS
Obama is intentionally killing us from the inside to pay us back for all "we are owed". His America and ours are two VERY different things. 2012 could be the election that saves or ends America. If Obama gets back in, we will then become the USSA. Gas prices are only the tip of the iceberg.

These were put into place as a safety measure should the flow of crude oil into this nation stop for any reason. If memory serves me correctly there is only a 45 day supply in storage anyway. This would only give us a little time to get the flow going again. Hopefully we never have to fall back on the reserve bank. Just suppose we used our reserve to lower prices and OPEC decided to double prices the next day after the reserves ran dry. We would be entirely at their mercy. The Wall St. traders would have a license to steal [ like they don't already ]. We need to keep our reserves intact. There is no question we need to explore our own supply sources within our boundries. Then we could control the costs and take the Wall St. thieves out of the picture. That is, if, and I mean if, anybody in this government had the intestional fortitude to stand up and fight for the folks in this country. I don't see this happening anytime soon. I somehow suspect part of the welcome wagon gifts to new Whitehouse residents is a significant number of oil company stock certificates. wtnhunt
Was something I saw on the news Lynn, Obama made the comment suggesting he would open our reserves, don't know at what capacity or if it was intended as a threat to opec or just what his intentions were. Would kind of speculate it was nothing more than a politician doing what they do best with telling folks what they want to hear possibly with no real intentions of following through. I do believe you are correct that if we depleted the reserves it would be foolish, we do however need to be exploring and utilizing more of the available resources we have right here at home. I have a bit of a theory of my own in regards to Obama's comment on the reserves. I think if Obama was to open our reserves it would not be until a time when it will help him at the polls, with that in mind it is probably a bit too early for him to act on his comments. LETMGROW
William, I have felt for a long while, politics will overcome good decisions. The problem here is the public at large can't see this. They will vote for the damn fools anyway! Lynn
elkoholic
The truth is that this country is doomed financially and as it collapses the rest of the world will also falter. When it becomes necessary to raise the debt ceiling just so that we can borrow more money to pay already existing debt, we are already past the point of no return. The only real unanswered question is how will we, as citizens, respond. Not one person in our government has the cojones to halt unnecessary spending and the inability to differentiate between wants and needs (strongly influenced by special interest groups) has sealed our fate.
