Blade
In New York they are passing a Bill that could lower the age of Deer hunting with a bow from 14 to 12. Hopefully it comes to our whole country. That means next year I can go deer hunting.
cray8705
Most places are 12 already, you probably have experience in the woods, but please take a safety course first, and remember a successful hunt is going home unharmed. If you do get to hunt this year, good luck! BowHunting is probably the most enjoyable, yet frustrating things out there.
Tominator
That's cool Blade. You could come to Ohio, there's no age limit over here, but we don't have very good deer over here.

Rhino
Hope it works out where you can start bowhunting next year Blade. No age limit here either except for the restrictions on youth hunters having to hunt with adults depending on whether you've passed a hunter safety course yet or not. PotashRLS
Bowhunting will make you a better, more well-rounded hunter Blade. Start saving your money now so you can buy a quality safety harness once you start hunting. Safety first!!!
Blade
Next year I am going to take my bowhunting safety course.

I know some 60 year old men that can't pull back 40lb bows - an 11 year old is unlikely as well.
wtnhunt
Hope it does not come here Blade, lol. No age limit for deer hunting here and there are other states that are the same but hope that New York gets that done. Hope you get to go this coming season, bet you are ready. I beg to differ on this... Blade at 10 was drawing 35lbs... this year will easily put him over 40lbs, and by the time he's 12, he should be well on his way to drawing 45-50lbs

I've heard this argument from others. I'm not sure how someone can compare arthritic seniors to a 12 year old. My 7 year old son is pulling back 30 pounds. Im surprised that anyone would not be in favor of getting our youth in the woods early... in NYS there is a minimum draw weight and if they can not draw that weight at that age, then they would not be eligible to hunt. Its that simple... Fortunately enough, my son is plenty strong enough

There are those who don't little kids screwing up their own hunts and those who feel that a 12 year old cannot pull back a bow. It baffles my mind why anyone would want to keep kids out of the woods.
