Turkeygirl
The spring turkey instinct is starting to waken up in my blood now...Got some nice weather coming up this weekend. Hoping Friday AM to get up early and take post on the old gravel pit ridge behind my house. Picked up one of the inflatable hen decoys with the realistic head at Walmart...quite impressed with the realism. then getting ready to turn into our driveway, there's something black in the road..."Hey mom, turkeys!" 3 hen turkeys had crossed the road from a corn field and down into the swamp and brush beside out house....rainy and cold so I'd bet heading up to the thick pines. Nice young hens:D Probably put a couple loads through my mossberg this weekend, make sure all is ok. Who else has the spring fever starting to increase? dbHunterNY
in the process of turning my benelli shotgun into a pure bred jelly head'er. I put a slogan sling on it so i can backpack it around while setting up decoys and calling. I've gotten and installed a Burris Speed Bead red dot so i can have it absolutely sighted to POI. Today I've got a Pure Gold extended ported turkey choke on the truck out for delivery to my house. I've purchased some different ammo to test this weekend hopefully. I even picked up some 3-1/2" Hevi-13s that should give something a beating. Also, I'm setting up a home bow shop in my basement so I know my bow will be dialed in perfect by then too. I've been taking scenic drives just to spot turkeys and see where they're going. This week I'll practice calling too. just to kick the dust off. pruts
I also can't wait. I have been out scouting for about two and a half weeks. Mostly from the truck but I did sit a couple of times and have a plan for monday morning. Hopefully it's a good one. Good luck to everyone!
