I'll always have a soft spot for Reatlree and will visit here daily. I don't post much anymore except for in the Deerhunting contest threads, but that's mainly because the Sports room isn't quite what it used to be. I was always a Lounge/Sports room guy myself. I imagine the majority of my posts were made razzing Muggsy or Johnboy. With them not being active much, its slowed my posting down considerably.

That being said, I don't believe the forums have changed that much. Members come and go and all have their own reasons. I stick around because I know that the forums don't revolve around me. They shouldn't change just because I believe they should. Doesn't bother me. I've made friends that will last me a lifetime and I've made enemies that will despise me til I die.LOL But between me and you, I'm pretty sure noone on here, really knows me...friends and enemies included. Now there are some that have spent some time around me in person that do and maybe that's what keeps me around. Another thing that helps is knowing that you can't take a paragraph typed by someone you don't know and let it bother you for more than 5 minutes. Realtree is part of my life but its such a small part and is really insignificant in the big picture.

I cherish all my friends on here and I appreciate everyone that does post a lot especially those that cause controversey.LOL I really enjoy it here.

Personally, I tend to have short pieces of time to peruse the forums and mostly just read and do not post much. One thing that I used to do was post more pictures and that may be one thing that would liven up the place a bit. If everyone posted more pictures, and everyone loves pictures, it would make the place more interesting. There probably isn't much that has not already been talked about and someone is sure to let you know it has been if you post on an old topic, which tends to make any new members a little leery about what they post. Some of us old goats may have heard it before, but that doesn't mean it is not worth chewing the fat over again.

I am one of those that "lurks" and doesn't post much. I like to click through the different rooms to see what's new. In my opinion, a lot of the posts don't warrant a comment. For instance-someone posts about what they did today...that's nice...does it need a comment from me? Or someone posts about someone else doing something...again, that's nice...does it need a comment from me? Or someone posts a link to a video...I'll watch it...does it need to be commented on by me?

I guess my point is-If I find the post relevant and I have a relevant reply, I'll post it. I'm not going to post just to "up" my post count like it appears some do with their replies. I'm not going to post just to post. If I have something to add, I'll add it. If I don't have anything to add to make the thread more interesting or if I have no opinion either way in regards to a thread, I won't post.

One thing to keep in mind-Even though people are "lurking" and not posting, they are still visiting this site. They may not post but RealTree hasn't lost them completely.

I'm a lutker as well. I don't have near the time I used to to sit around and read/post to everything. But the one thing I have seen, that just chaps my butt, is there is one person here ALWAYS IMO pushing the "boundaries", and in years past, alot of his bunk would not have been allowed. Maybe I'm the one that changed, and maybe I'm in a better place these days, and just don't wanna see alot of the junk I see here anymore.

I lurk in the Lounge from time to time but don't post much there. I can certainly understand someone's preference about using facebook or whatever instead of the lounge. With that said though I do post a lot in the hunting forums. It's turkey time right now so that's where the majority of my time has been spent while here. After all this is a hunting forum and my reason for joining 9 years ago was to pass along some of my knowledge from years of experience. I don't claim to be an expert and never will! I sure hope some of the knowledge that I have passed on helped someone put game on their table and trophies on their wall. Don't take this wrong Ben but I don't recall seeing you post in the turkey forum. Nothing personal but I presume you're just not into turkey hunting...I am!!! Post in the turkey forum have been lower than recent years but I attribute that to not having a turkey contest. Nothing wrong with not having a turkey contest this year but just stating an opinion for lower than usual post counts there. Then again...some state's turkey seasons haven't even opened yet.

I post in the rooms that I have something in common with. I don't do sports so I'm rarely in there, or turkey, not from Canada so I'm not in there, nor am I a woman, don't own a crossbow, not really a youth, don't own a ML'er, don't talk much on guns and whatnot so I don't frequent those forums too often, so pretty much my time is spent in the Lounge, Bowhunting and Deer Hunting (when seasons are in) and the Big Game/Exotics, Taxidermy, Photography, sometimes the Spiritual room and Blogs.

The question still remains to everyone.......what can be done to help the forums improve or get "better"?

But the one thing I have seen, that just chaps my butt, is there is one person here ALWAYS IMO pushing the "boundaries", and in years past, alot of his bunk would not have been allowed. Nope, not big into Turkey and dont know a lot about them so I dont post. I didnt really have any complaint about people not posting. I was just asking a simple question as to what we, as members, can do to better this place. Others have started this whole posting problem and lurkers and whatnot.

So, where is everyone these days?

Dunno. Cannot speak for anyone else but been a lot going on here, and had some computer issues.

To try to answer Ben's question, try to share posts and experiences if for nothing more than that maybe some other members might actually enjoy reading or get something out of them.

Seems like you need to spend more time fishing, turkey hunting, and asking the women how to understand women. Sorry...couldn't resist.

Good, constructive answer William!

Oh yea, forgot fishing too.......and the whole understanding women thing......YEA RIGHT!! God asked Adam one day "Adam, tell me one thing you want and I'll give it to you." After thinking for a few minutes, Adam replied "I'd like a bridge from here to Hawaii." God answered "Do you realize what that would consist of? The man power, materials, etc. Adam can you think of something else that you would want?" Adam said "Sure Lord, give me an understanding of the woman kind." God replied ".......you want that road two lane or four?"

I dont post in the lounge much anymore (or really any room too much). Lots of the time I'm browsing on the phone, and of course I post WAY less while doing that for obvious reasons. I agree with Chris too that things are just to PC on here at times. I also think that some of the folks that want to jump out and call foul are just doing so for their own self-gratification rather than truly being offended. All that aside I still think it's a great forum and will probably continue to frequent it as long as it's around, sometimes more sometimes less depending on what's going on in life. I know I've had some good times yanking around with folks in the lounge in what should have been seen as unambiguously tongue-in-cheek jabs when a party pooper would jump in. :pop:

I think I'll post a thread up about turducken. there's about a 30% interest you'd have then right??

honestly i don't post in the Waterfowl, Canadian Outdoorsmen, Politics, Spiritual Camp rooms, etc. that's not to say i don't have any interest in them. other rooms suit my interests more. i look at them first and then end up signing off before i get to look at other threads. i've been busy lately and on here less. i've been meaning to give out some congrats in the turkey room. lots of birds hitting the dirt, but i haven't gotten to it. right now i've got to go home and finish up my home bow shop i'm working on. i plan on posting pictures when it's closer to completion.

When you're talking food, it will be 100%!!!

But, yeah, I will chat it up and share knowledge and experience in the duck hunting room. It is one of the most dead rooms here. There are about 5 of us that post there. But during season and when we do post there is some awesome stories, pictures and advice given. Again, I am not complaining and have not brought up post counts and numbers. I was just asking a simple question in my first post of the thread.

Now, back to this turducken. If I get a turlkey this weekend, I have chicken and boat loads of duck to cook one up!

i have to agree, it was alot more interesting when you could take a friendly jab at some one with out the fear of some one yelling foul. when i got in there seemed to be way more people willing to help someone out with advice, and was like one big hunting family. maybe we need to get back to the realtree moto, family, friends and the great outdoors. and stop being so PC and start having fun again.

Should have dropped the "ly" I think and used it as the adjective, or dropped the word "as" and left it as-is as an adverb. Maybe Chris with his mod powers and grammatical prowess could fix it.

It's not my area. Much prefer to watch you twist in the wind.....in a southerly, friendly sort of way, you know.

:D
