Jorden
My buddy and I were thinking of doing our first DIY hunt this fall on some over-the-counter elk tags. What are some good resources/articles to look at that offer good advice on how to plan, what to bring, etc.
texastrophies
I think Colorado is what you are looking for. Over the counter bull tags in most of the state for second and third season. Colorado also has a lot of information on how to hunt. Take a look at this page on their website EHU "Lessons," 2010 - Colorado Division of Wildlife They call it their elk hunting universe. It started last year and that is where the link takes you, and have a second course for this year.
Jorden
Ya I meant to say colorado in my original post. Do they have over the counter archery tags too or is it just 2nd/3rd rifle season?
texastrophies
I don't bow hunt, so I have really never paid attention to the bow tags. I sure someone will chime in soon with an answer to that.

m gardner
Make sure you get into better shape than you think you need to be. In shape in Wisconsin is gasping for breath at 8000 to 11000 feet. The stairclimber is my best friend all summer.
