redkneck
Anybody shoot one of these? Might pick up one from a family member and was curious on where I'd have to get ammo for it.
Strut10
I don't own or shoot one. But Graf & Sons lists the ammo (but out of stock) Graf & Sons - 41 Long Colt Cabela's lists it and seems to be in stock. doubleA
Have a cousin that has a Colt 1873 Peacemaker in .41 LC. Havent shot it in many moons but if memory serves me right a refrigerator would be safe at 30 yards.:2guns::48:
redkneck
Have a cousin that has a Colt 1873 Peacemaker in .41 LC. Havent shot it in many moons but if memory serves me right a refrigerator would be safe at 30 yards.:2guns::48: I can tell it aint no gun to take to the range. Pretty much close range defense weapon with performance similar to the 38spl from what little I've read. Still it's in pristine condition and its free! My aunt could have no children and is giving away guns in her old age. She's already given me a like new marlin 30-30, and a marlin lever 22 that both have never seen 100 rounds each. Also picked up an old Ariska 6.5. Still got the 1897 12ga and an old stevens 12 pump... 77B I think it said. She also still has the colt, ruger 22 auto, a tiny 22 revolver, and an old 38 S&W lemon squeeze internal hammer gun. She's keeping a 22 auto and the 38spl by her front door for now Small family on my dad's side and I was always her favorite so she told me I could take them all, but I still feel kinda greedy about that. doubleA
Cant beat free........I killed my first turkey with a full choked 97 Win. Thinking I can still feel the pain from that thing.:stretcher: That's a classic for sure! Sounds as if you will be getting some nice older firearms. redkneck
Thanks Joe, that was a helpful read. I'll most likely acquire the pistol at no cost to me, it's one of the newer ones I'd guess made in 50's. I'll look more into it when I get it home. That 38-40 conversion sounds like the best route to take, but honestly I'm not all that into pistols and if I were to spend much $ on one I would get a shooter in a modern caliber. Thanks for the responses as always guys.
