Overran with ANTS!!! Help...

We started having a problem with ants about two years ago. I had a guy come spray around the house and it helped but it didn’t fix the problem. I also put out the in house baits. Again, it helped but didn’t solve the problem.

They have progressively gotten worse and now I’m pretty much overran. They are all over the house and not just confined to the kitchen. They have holes around the house and up and down the sidewalk. Also, I had to cut a piece of siding off this past weekend. They are nested in the wall! This year is the worst I have ever seen them and they are EVERYWHERE!!!!

My youngest dropped part of an ice cream sandwich this past weekend. I didn’t find it until Saturday morning and it literally had thousands of ants on it. There was also a long stream of them coming through the front door. Something that simple draws them from the holes around the sidewalk and porch and brings them into the house!

These darn things are everywhere and nothing I’m doing or have done seems to help!!!! I know someone has to have experience with this…. HELP!!!

Also, keep in mind I have to young girls and pets so I have to be careful about what I use or leave out...

I'm having the same problem Jeramie. Not as bad as you by the way it sounds but over the weekend I started seeing fire ants throughout the house. Mainly in the kitchen and bathroom. I guess with the extreme drought they are searching for water too! I bought some indoor/outdoor spray and sprayed the base of the cabinets and around the windows, it seems to have solved the problem. Going to the local feed store and picking up a pack of Demon today to spray around outside.

Jeramie...if you ever listen to me, listen to me now.

We had the same problem....it gets dry they came in for water. If gets wet, they come in to be dry. We had the bug people out who made us get rid of our water garden near the house because it was the culprit. And so on for YEARS. They kept charging us but the ants never stopped...several times they said they found a major colony in the yard and that would be the tipping point only to see more ants.

Finally a friend who will be golden in our eyes forever suggested this:

AMDRO - Ant Block Home Page

We put it out around the base of the house (use the pellet form) and voila. We haven't seen an ant in the house since. We put it out twice a year and it works like magic. You can actually find a string of ants, drop some on them, and they pick it up and you can watch them carry it back to the mound like food.

It's not very expensive and each jug will do our house for an entire season. I'm just afraid they will stop making it.

Let me know how it works.

If it's any consolation, I am TOLD that ants eat termites so maybe they will keep the termites out of our home! :D
