redkneck
Got this USA Today article in an email the other day. Thought it was interesting read, esp in light of the storms we've had here lately. Dixie Alley may see more tornado action than even Tornado Alley - USATODAY.com
Gator
Think they are right!!! Alabama has been getting hit hard!
Rhino
That shouldn't surprise us at all John. The tornado sirens are getting worn out around here each year from spring through mid summer.
redkneck
You're right Al. We have a plant in Smith Co. in the little community of Polkville, about 10 miles south of Morton on I-20. I bet few spots in this country are mentioned on weather radios more than that little bend in the road.
Gator
On the phone with my brother, he lives in Cherokee Co, on the Ga line. Due to the storms, which were a good ways away, the WHOLE county will be without power for 7-10 days
Jeramie
A lot of people died yesterday in those storms. The death count is pushing 200. God be with them and their families.

wtnhunt
West Tennessee has had tornadoes pretty regular and some pretty bad ones as long as I have been here. Do not get the storm chasers around here due to the terrain and don't think we get near the coverage or attention unless it hits something big like the Feb 5th 2008 storm that hit Union university. We ended up in our basement Tuesday for a little while, was a tornado track through not far from here. Lot of damage around here and still places with power lines down, but have not heard of any injuries in our county or the surrounding counties. Flooding was also pretty bad and waters still up in the forked deer which dumps into the Mississippi.
