ckrich
A "source" informed me that Walmart has lost business since they consolidated and cut back on their product line. They're supposed to be bringing back a lot of products. We have a new store(1 year old) about a couple miles from my apartment that has the new layout, and I've noticed lately that the selection has started to get better. No guns yet though, and with a Bass Pro Only 3 miles away, I'm not sure if they would want to go back to carrying them. It might not be worth the overhead cost if they don't sell. Jeramie
Walmart has never stopped selling guns here. its hit and miss here. There are likely dozens of walmarts in Tulsa. Some in the surrouding areas still sale guns (like in Broken Arrow, Ok). Others you would expect to still carry guns but dont. I think they need to bring them back to all fo their stores. They have however downsized a lot of their sporting good stuff. We have a couple of Academy Sports, Bass Pro, and others so they try not to compete with that. Jeramie
to add......... In general, Walmart has stream lined to such a degree they are suffering in a lot of areas. This year it was announced they were adding something like 8,000 new products to drive sales. Thats a smart call as they have hurt sales laterly. The way they qualify people for sales alone is pretty stiff. I think they are finally starting ot realize they have crippled themselves in a lot of areas... And on that note I think its safe to say that Sam wouldnt be too thrilled with what the company has become. He was a very simple guy from Small Town Arkansas. The monster money maker was not what he had in mind...

Hey Jeramie, not sure if you've heard this yet or not, but we're getting a Dick's Sporting Goods here in BA. Right next to the Target. That should give us a little more variety and competitive pricing on sporting goods.
RangerClay
I doubt you will ever see them sell guns in New York again.

You have to really know what youre shopping for when you go in. Im glad to hear about the Dick's! I wondered why they hadnt looked at putting in a Cabela's or Sportsman's Ware house, etc.... Thats great!
ckrich
It seems like every 6 months or so I hear a rumor about a Cabela's going in at Jenks, Owasso, or somewhere else close by and nothing ever comes of it. They are supposed to have already broken ground for Dick's, so I'm going to have to swing by there on my way home from work today to confirm it. I believe it will be the first one in OK. Jeramie
I don’t know of any others either. I can see them putting it close to all of that new development in BA but I cant imagine them building anything in Owasso (even though that town has really blown up). Jenks possibly because of the way they are trying to develop the Arkansas. I still think they would likely put it in BA next to Bass Pro (like they are doing Dick's) so they can compete. However, I will say, with Dick's moving in I wouldn’t count on a Cabelas any time soon.
stevebeilgard
most western wal marts sell guns now. but it's a good decision. i still don't like wal mart because 99% of what they sell is made in china.
birdhunter39
2 of the closest walmarts quit selling guns about 3 yrs ago , so i hope that they start selling guns again

Adjam5
I doubt you will ever see them sell guns in New York again. +2! Even their ammo has been quite scarce and not many calibers availible. Maybe it is just the store I go to. I did how ever get a MONSTER deal, $265 for a Weatherby Vanguard in 7mm Mag, when they were closing out the last of their gun stock quite a few years back.
