Season ending gobbler

I decided to sleep in a little yesterday morning and didn't hit the woods until about 8 or so. My plan was to just walk the property, call every now and then, and look for mushrooms.

I was getting close to the other side of the property, when I spotted a couple shrooms. I was nelt down trying to find more when I heard a gobble probably a couple hundred yards away... I had just called about a minute before the mushroom find. I grabbed the two shrooms, and then start looking for a place to set up. I was in some pretty thick brush and had nowhere to really set up there. I haul tail down and around a little gully to try to make it over to the open woods. I run through a small open area all the meantime the gobbler is getting closer. Realizing I'm not going to make it where I want to go, I run back through the lil open area and set up on the side of the hill and hide myself as best I could.

Once set up, I started to call. For a few minutes I couldn't get a response so I figured he must have seen me running through the opening. Finally, after about the 4th or 5th calling sequence he responded and was probably within 60 yards, but I could not see him through the thick stuff. A few minutes later, I finally see the white head. I gave him a few more calls with the diaphram and he came right into the small opening and into a load of turkey shot. Gotta love it when you find a gobbler without a girlfriend... makes turkey hunting go the way it's suppose to. :D
