Rhino
Good luck Tom. Hope you have better luck than I've had before. Tried it twice here in MS using my standard tactics...limp & gun (that's run & gun for hunters with 2 good legs). Gotta be a blind hunter to bowhunt these MS Eastern birds. I'm just not into sitting in a blind. I'm too used to going after them and trying to get in front of where they want to go to work them in. If I ever get back to south Texas chasing Rios, I may break out my bow there...limp & gun style...well bow...not in a blind. I think it can be done with some Rios I've hunted in Texas before. Ohiobucks
Ain't over yet....at flydown, 3 toms came in behind the blind to about 40 yards, gobbleing with every step. Then a loud mouth hen took them down the hill where they paraded around her like she was all that. I can still hear them gobble every now and then, about 250-300 yards away. Soon the stupid hen will go to nest, and i'll be back in business (I hope.....). I'm here until 11:30am.

Ohiobucks
Well, they came back through, but stayed 50 yards out. I got them to gobble quite a bit, but they had other places on their mind. I'm here for another hour or so....
Rhino
Yep 50 yards is stretching it a bit for hitting a target that will most likely move a bit before the arrow arrives that's the size of an orange or less.

Precisely why I didn't shoot I don't think I could hit the ground from 50 yards, let alone a turkey's vitals..... Sure was a fun morning though. Tominator
Sounds like a good morning Tommy. Sounds like a lot more fun than what I was doing.
dbHunterNY
i usually have success hunting the way Al said "run and gun". So far this season it's been just sitting in a blind with the bow. I want one with a bow! I've only been out 3 mornings (only hunt until noon here in NY), but it's been pretty slow. Birds don't seem to be in the area when and where i'm hunting.
