92xj
Do you feel you like and trust your 'internet friends' more when you are friends with them on facebook as well as whatever forum you met them on? Do you know more about their lives, their family and their friends from information you see and read on facebook instead of just the forum that you met them on? If you get to talking to someone on a forum, do you ask them for thier facebook to try and get to know them better? to get more friends on facebook? Would you be more willing to meet up with or help someone else out that you are friends with on facebook instead of just being friends of them from whatever forum you both are on? Does having a facebook make you old people feel like a kid again? That last one was just a little humor for the day.
Dawg
Do you feel you like and trust your 'internet friends' more when you are friends with them on facebook as well as whatever forum you met them on? Depends on who it is. Do you know more about their lives, their family and their friends from information you see and read on facebook instead of just the forum that you met them on? No. If you get to talking to someone on a forum, do you ask them for thier facebook to try and get to know them better? to get more friends on facebook? I have before but not for the sole purpose of having more friends. Heck, I deleted a few people on facebook the other day. Would you be more willing to meet up with or help someone else out that you are friends with on facebook instead of just being friends of them from whatever forum you both are on? Yes. Does having a facebook make you old people feel like a kid again? Chris, Tom or Mike H. will have to answer that one. That last one was just a little humor for the day. ruttinbuc
Thanks for the smile, Corey! I don't use Facebook as much as others. I used to have 167 friends on Facebook, but 2 have decided to drop me from the list. Apparently, some who dish it out can't take it in return. Easier for them to hit the delete button than to deal with whatever. Sort of like sweeping stuff under the rug when the truth gets hot. Of the 165 left I can say most are from here, people I have met in person, or a relative. Of course there are more than a few who reached out to me for knowing others on my list. I have a lot of friends here and on Facebook that I can trust with almost anything. Over the years you just get to know more about people, their family and lives. I don't ask forum friends friends if they are on Facebook or not. I have always reached out and try to help people regardless of where we are friends from. No, I still feel as old as Orlan! Strut10
I've found that you can't know or trust internet "friends" even after you've met them in person, sometimes. That's a big part of the reason I've never been on Facebook and never will be. Way I figure it, people I've never met don't need to know any more about me than is absolutely necessary. The_Kat
I have a handful of people that I've met online that I can TRULY call friend, and that I would count on and trust. I have many people I consider friends online, but I don't really know them very well. Outside of my Oklahoma friends, who I don't even see as "internet friends" anymore, I have maybe 5 ppl I trust. I've met only 2 of them......the others stay in contact offline more than online if that makes sense. I had several friends on facebook.....people who I had no association with other than knowing their names and who they were. I removed close to 250 people from my college days, this website, and other forums., drama queens who broke up with their bf/gf every other day, and the ppl who do nothing but complain. Now I try to keep just people that I have real friendships with and family.

RangerClay
First off I have a handful really great friends that I have met here on the forums that I trust. If one of them needed a hand with something I would try to be there and help. And there are a few that I would come help even though I have not met them in person yet. For me Facebook is different than the forums. The forums are open discussion with mostly strangers. I don't allow just anyone to friend me on Facebook and any discussion and any discussion I have is with "my friends". I don't have time to sit down and write emails to all of my friends in order to keep in touch but Facebook allows me hear how they are doing. From my high school buddy who is struggling in Japan, to my former room mate in Dallas, facebook has kept me in touch with folks I have not seen or heard from in yeeeears. Facebook does not make me feel younger. It's a communication tool, that's all.
wtnhunt
Don't have a facebook account and not sure that I ever will. Far as internet friends, have several on here that I consider to be good friends. Friend list really is irrelevant to me, sure there are a few that are not even on my "list" that I know I can trust to send any of my kids to hunt with or trust to talk with about pretty well anything. Unfortunately have found that just like anywhere else thatsome folks you think you know pretty well that you have even met face to face, well maybe just maybe they are not really what they try to come off as, kind of disappointing. hoosierhunter
No facebook or any other social media. In the business world way more are fired or not hired because of what shows up on those sites! Be careful all.......
